How dare you!

You know what I`d be curious to hear, is Les Claypool (bassist of Primus) when he tried out for Metallica. They turned him down, not because he was by any means a bad bassist, but because he had simply too much style.

And if I might stir the pot a little bit, no disrespect meant to Cliff Burton, but man, Jason Newstead was good and I think a lot of people forget that. I saw him play for about 5-10 minutes solo when I saw them 15 years ago and I was pretty damn impressed.
Furthermore, maybe it was their last truly great album, but Justice For All was their best as far as I`m concerned.

As a bassist, I feel I`ve earned my bias.

Half this statement is true.

Everyone seems to feel sorry for Jason, he was quite happy to rake in the millions and play on what is without doubt both their most blatantly commercial and also shittiest period of output. So he could play, why didn't he write something halfway decent then?

I used to have a shirt of that picture

I still like the black album, it's different but still very Metallica IMO but after that, "Load" and "Reload" suck (still a song or two between those two albums that are decent enough), and Saint anger is a pathetic attempt of trying to be the old Metallica again, and squeeze a few more dollars out of the old fans, but they changed, getting married, having kids etc, they've just lost that touch.
just recently I've seen a video clip of them, it's about American soldiers, (probably in Iraq), and it SUCKS big time!

for me the best albums are "Ride the lightning" and "Master of puppets"

also not so long ago I saw a documentary about them, in that documentary they hired that new bass player, and they had a psychiatrist and were having sessions, they we're all touchy feely and shit, talking about their feelings and how this and that made them feel and blablablabla they made me puke fekkin' pussies.

OK I think we've all established the fact that you don't like them, no need to go on and on about, move on, get over it.
