Thread: Guitar players

On my last trip to Pattaya with my girl I got the chance to sit in with the band at The Rolling Stone Bar and play guitar for two songs. I'm considering an extended visit and it would be cool to find a place where you could bring your guitar and sit in on a few songs. Any guitar players in Bangkok?

There are lots of places like this around the country. Thai people are very cool about farangs sitting in with the band as long as they can hang or contribute something. A few years before I had a steady gig in Chiang Mai, I sat in several nights a week jamming in a bar in Khao Lak, where I would get hooked up with free drinks. I also go to sit in on a beach in Hua Hin. It was more of a hut with an outside bar and a band, but I still got a free beer out of it. Got to sit in with a band in Krabbi and got some smoke out of it (it was a Reggae band). Bangkok will be harder to find that kind of bar because farangs are a dime a dozen and guitarists are even more common.

But hey, it don't mean you can't have sessions!
