The Crow Road by Iain Banks - very good so far.
Before that I read A Sense of Freedom by Jimmy Boyle which is an outstanding read and I certainly recommend it.

Catch-22
Same bookI reported I am reading 6 months ago.
The bible
I don't think he had time to be his usual bent self but a very interesting insight into the machinations of the political machine in the USA. A sort of fly on the wall view. As eso pointed out he was eventually swatted for his, well for being him.Originally Posted by Well

A Million Little Pieces - James Frey
James Frey wakes up with a broken nose, missing teeth, a hole in his cheek, and eyes so swollen he can hardly open them. His clothes are "covered with a colorful mixture of spit, snot, urine, vomit and blood" [p. 1]. He's on a plane, but he does not know where he's going or where he's come from. And now his life is about to get really difficult.
A Million Little Pieces is James Frey's scorching account of his descent into the hell of addiction and the brutal journey to recovery. When he arrives at a famous clinic in Minnesota, he is nearly dead from a decade of drug and alcohol abuse so spectacular even doctors who have spent their entire careers treating addicts are amazed. He took everything he could find, and as much as possible: Cocaine, crack cocaine, crystal meth, PCP, glue, and alcohol in quantities so great he blacked out every day for years. His body is shot, and his mind is in an almost constant rage of self-hatred and destructiveness. He is wanted in three states for crimes ranging from DUI and resisting arrest to assaulting an officer, attempted incitement of a riot, and felony mayhem. He has, as they say, hit bottom. A few more drinks, the doctors tell him, will kill him.
Edward de Bono, How to Have a Beautiful Mind. Its useful for beginners in parts, but I think he's a bit overrated as an original thinker.
If 6 of the 7 dwarves were not Happy, does that prove that dwarves are generally an unhappy lot?

Just finished 'How to be Free" by Tom Hodgkinson -not a bad read, interesting in parts. Just starting 'How are Things: A Philosophical Experiment' by Roger-Pol Droit.

Think you've got the wrong Bono there mate. This one is NOT part of U2. He's the author of Lateral Thinking and Six Thinking Hats.
