Yesterday I made one of my periodic shopping trips to Bangkok from Pattaya to stock up on new EFL materials.
When I got to the Language Media Book Center it was closed and inside was absolutely stripped bare.
Does anyone know if it has closed for good or is it merely being refurbished?
Not sure. Last time I went though the missus reckoned that it's no longer owned by DK Books.
Dunno if that means that someone took it over, or it's shut?
Or we were wrong and it's just a refurb?

Hope it has closed. Most of the EFL material I've seen here is complete nonense for the level of the vast majority of students I've seen. Lets start again with textbooks related to Thailiand, less overcomplicated vocabulary and role plays that are actually said in the real world. Pm me I've just made a whole load of role plays books as well as other useful stuff. Anyone who wants them is welcome to P.M me. My resources all cost under 5 baht to photocopy. dictionaries with words that are actuially used will set you back 5 baht.
The one on Siam square has closed.
You can get a map from any of the stores as far as the locations.
- One near Central World Center / Pentip plaza. Just walk up the road to where you see the new BTS / railroad tracks and it is like in that side street. Good place, better laid out and more books and material to choose from. The older woman seems to be more flexable in handing those 10% teachers discounts.
- One near Impact
- New one located near RCA.

I'm on my way back there now - but it's been a couple years and can't remember where exactly it is. So...you say up the road..see the new BTS? Tracks? Where now? Which side street?
If anyone has slightly less vague/confusing directions please chime in.
Oh, and to update the OP, that Siam Sq. store is still dead and gone.

"If you're not interested in changing where you work (and thus the student population, obviously) then a) your success at applying various and sundry teaching techniques is unlikely to have anything to do with how effective they are in general, and b) your sweeping generalizations about Thai students serve no purpose but to fuel your inertia and your feeling of being an 'insider'. Sadly (for you) few who read your sweeping generalizations will perceive it that way, but hey if it makes you feel good, knock yourself out." -zeusdogg
Its not BTS it the new train to the airport they are building I do believe. On the Makasan side not the panthip side. Turning right as you drive toward Petburi Rd. not left toward Panthip.

Too long in Exile my friend, Baby you can never go home again.
can't find in online. fuck it i'm heading down there.
It is on the same side of the road as Amari Watergate. Just look for the railroad and the new BTS extension going to the airport. There is a small soi / alley and it is in there. Donít ask me for the name of the alley it is just there. That is all the information that I can give you.
Chuck its not the BTS going to the airport. You are confusing people.
found it. will post a pic as well. later tho
This is the sort of thing you can show on Google Maps if you make your own map to pinpoint the location. I posted more info about doing this in another thread in practicalities.
Follow the three Rís: Respect for self Respect for others and Responsibility for all your actions.
^ If you have an address. Or the name of the place is registered. Is it Language Media? DK Books? What?
I've now got a stack of flyers for the place with all the contact info in Eng/Thai. But heading out, it was
all strangely vague and unavailable to my many google combination searches. But yeah...prolly.
There it is.
why was that website so difficult to find? didn't know the 'today' part i guess that was the problem. rrrrr

Don't need the address bro, you just need to know where it is then you can make a map and drop a location marker right on the spot. Google's map data (roads) is excellent but locations of specific places / businesses (points of interest) is not 100% reliable unless you've verified or edited it for accuracy yourself. In short, if you know exactly where something is you can easily make a map to show everyone else.
Tutorials on how to do it are linked from this thread:

Yeah, I like that thread - never realized g maps was so responsive.
I'll try that at the next opportunity.
I didn't have an address either the other day, or a location,
so I couldn't have done the neato google maps thingamajig.
The place is in the soi just after the new airport train. On the
left walking from Pratunam. I walked from Chit Lom - 20 minutes,
give or take.
One of the absolute worst walks in one of the dirtiest, busiest parts of BKK
with fat shopper farangs and cynical market Thais and traffic and dust. Weeeee
Nice bookshop though. They seem to have pretty much EVERYTHING.
It's like Chula and Kinokuniya and that old Siam one all combined. the ESL nerd in
me was very impressed.
Should have taken indoor shots but I was busy browsing like a mo' fo'.
Do they have books of the Laminated Flash cards?
