When I was younger, certainly as a child, we (my sister and I) were always being told by Mum and Dad to 'take-out' a book (and later casette) from our local library.
While living in Thailand, apart from Hays, I'm not sure I have ever seen a library, let alone gone in one. So, do people in the 'real' world still visit libraries - or are they all now YUPPIE converted wine bars?
No they don't, and that's why I am contemplating a career change from librarian to TEFL grunt...Originally Posted by Pinky

Seriously, by 'the 'real' world' do you mean outside of LOS? I can only speak for the U.S., where our public libraries are still thriving(at least in Honolulu, SF and NYC, where I've lived recently), though nowadays librarians spend more time keeping circulation records from the prying eyes of W's Homeland Security goons and trying to keep kids from looking at porn on the public access terminals than recommending a good book...![]()
by the 'real world' I did mean outside LoS. And thanks for your feedback.
