Any place that can sell/buy second hand books? Something big, I've found a small store on Khaosan, but nothing interesting to buy.
In my language we call them 'anticariat', these second hand book stores, I've tried to find the meaning in English but there none. Google translate tells me "antique store"![]()

I'm not sure I've ever seen a second hand bookstore anywhere in the world that I'd call big.
My favourite is also dasa.
It's fairly big - as second hand bookstores go.
I haven't been to the new location. Looks good, judging by the photos.
Dasa Books (????): Bangkok's Best Secondhand Bookshop - Used Books in English and other languages ??? ?? ? ?
Dasa's the best i've seen, but there's a place across from Emporium (in that little subsoi directly across the street from the pedestrian exit in the dept store) that's pretty good and often gets some fairly interesting stuff in spite of its small size, chaotic floor plan and lack of interior decorating vision. there's also one not far from Villa on Suk that's pretty big but every time i've been there it's been crap and seems to cater solely to people who like overly thick novels about lawyers or cops or spies or soldiers.
i always forget that Dasa moved, when i go there it just seems different somehow, but i can't put my finger on it, sort of the way things are just a bit off in dreams...
I'm yet another fan of Dasa. Some places demand a lot of second hand books. Often a new copy from Kinokuniya isn't much more expensive.
Do you have coke?
Can you buy a kindle in Bangkok? I'm considering one too.
I also want to buy a kindle....I like physics books which are not too easy to get in Thailand.
speaking of Dasa, they have a search function--they track their books in a database. if you dont' see something on the shelf (sometimes used books are like keys on your table, if you want 'em badly enough you can look right at 'em and not see 'em). good place, haven't tried their cappucino yet though.
Bangkok is a wealth of used/second-hand bookshops of every sort. Sure, sure - the ones that are well known, etc. But the number of littler known shops are the real treasures. With a little understanding on how to use a search engine and play with keywords, one can locate most of the lovely large and small bookshops that spread themselves throughout BKK metro. Try Google Thai.

if you read Thai there are a lot of good options, if not, then i've not seen many good ones... with most of these shops you'd need to get really, really lucky unless you're searching desperately for the collected works of John Grisham.
i'm just going to order from Amazon, or piggyback on a friend's Amazon order to save a little on shipping (they don't weigh much, these kindles). there are other similar readers, i believe Sony makes one. i had the impression that Kindle was an Amazon exclusive but i may be wrong.
