Shit this course is intense!!! I can’t believe the amount of homework we are getting- it’s unbelievable! I would recommend to anyone wanting to do this course do not arrive the day before it starts- having jet lag is really no fun, when working so much. On the upside it is a great course, practical, i have learnt so much in a couple of days….
Anyone else out there completed this course- do they ease up on the homework at all?

I did it 4 years ago. How far along are you?
If you havent started the observed lessons then no it doesnt let up.
Hang in there, its worth it in the end. You will be able to produce lessons plans and aids in your sleep!

as Bluff says it eases up once the observes begin. Hang in there. You can do it!
Thanks guys, Yes morning sickness is a worry! However it has eased up since i got gastro and got put on antibiotics (no alcohole for me for a little bit
) We havn't started the obs yet! So hopefully it will all go okay- Hanging in there no probs, i just feel like it is all a little repetitive (the homework that is).
Thanks for the support guys!

Yes, say hello to Dave and Bruce for me. I'm sure they're still around.

666,
I'm in a public middle-school in Pusan, Korea. You can read more about it in some of my latest columns on ajarn.
Thanks.
I did the TEFL two years ago from TEFL Int'l down in Phuket. I also know quite a few folks from the Ban Phae program, and they say Dave is quite intense. Is it true? Did he really go cross-eyed from a snake bite? Doubt it.
I don't care what the haters say, I thought TEFL Int'l was great. I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't want to, or can't do a CELTA. The work is challenging, but it will pay off in the end. Good luck.
More like exuberant about teaching.Originally Posted by crew

Hi I did the course last January, and no it doesn't get any easier ! But it does get more enjoyable once you start teaching practice.Originally Posted by earth_2_lisa
If it's any consolation nobody has ever failed the course. BUT many have quit because they were not up to it or could not handle the pressure.
DO NOT under any circumstances miss a class because of a heavy night out. TEFL ( Dave ) will make your life hell ! and they will increase the pressure. You CAN NOT lose any time on the course.
It is worth it in the end believe me !
I nearly quit many times due to the intense pressure. When I did my first solo Teaching practice, I was up to 2 am preparing my lesson, and I shook like a leaf for the whole lesson. But I survived, and now thanks to TEFL I have a good teaching job.
I now think nothing of standing in front of 55 Students and teaching them for an hour.
Mainly due to the pressure TEFL put me under on the course, I am able to think on my feet very quickly, and change the course of my lesson mid stream when I have to.
Dave told me to improve my grammar if I wanted to survive in teaching. My grammar is still bad, but I am surviving !! AND I can teach thanks to Dave, Mike, Jidapa and the rest of the crew at TEFL.
I now have over 1,000 kids making Christmas cards for me, and I must admit the results are bringing a tear to my eye !!
WAIT to the END of the course before going on that well deserved Drunken orgy.
