I'm looking for a place in Bangkok to flop for a week or so to recover from the 24 hours of flights I'm taking to get there. I've traveled in LoS several times on holiday but since I'm moving there this time I need something a bit more substantial than a backpacker's crash pad for a base of operations my first week in town. Bangkok isn't really my cup of tea for vacation so I haven't spent much time there and the few places I have stayed I'm not keen to set up shop at.
I'm thinking Sukhumvit because I know the area fairly well and it has everything I'll need conveniently available. Also, BTS is a definite plus. I'd probably prefer an area new to me over Khosan Road but am willing to consider it (as a last resort).
I'll spend up to 1,000 THB a day for the perfect place but hope to find something for a good bit less. A nice place that offers a discount for staying a full week would be ideal.
WiFi internet access would be the icing on the cake.
Thanks in advance for your recommendations and I look forward to meeting some of you posters that I've been reading for some time now.

I usually end up at the Bangkok City Suite(www.staybangkok.com), New Phetburi rd. It's about a kilometer walk to the Ratchatewi BTS station. 750 for a single, 800 double. Good wifi and a big buffet breakfast. TV sucks though.
Suk.Soi 10 I stay at the Ruamchitt Travelodge(02 653 1314). 1000.bt, better Tv, no wifi, and spartan breakfast. I really like this area, the new Chuvit park adds great atmosphere. But I was just there and all the hotels have gone up in price by bout 200bt in the last year.
There is a great little place just off Suk 10, Cozy at 10 I think, it's new and overlooks the park, but I think it's 1200 for a single.
Good luck!
Try Romance Mansion, on Sukhumvit 97. It's a 20 baht ride from On Nut BTS, or a 20 minute walk.
You'll get aircon, hot shower, satellite TV and in-room Wi-Fi for just 500 baht per night. It also has a minimart and restaurant. You can't get a better deal than that.
I lived there for a few months when I was looking for an apartment. It's 6k per month.

Ha, sorry no pink sheets. Though the mirror would be nice.
It's pretty new and clean. Honestly, for the price it's an excellent. I've paid far more for far worse.
I don't really know On Nut very well as I mainly stay on Sukhumvit. If you know the big tesco at On Nut BTS, it's only 1-2 km further down Sukhumvit. You'll see a huge neon sign for it once you approach Suk 62. But if you come to Suk 62, you've gone too far.
Thanks for the tips guys! Here's 2 more places I dug up here in the archive and on TV that seem to fit the bill and also got good reports from people who have stayed there.
K.T. Guest House
12 Soi Inthamara 44, Suttisarn Road Din Daeng

Srinuan Court
147-149 Sukhumvit Road, Soi 22 Prakanong.
Tel: 262-0485, 259-5655 Fax: 262-0452.
Sukhumvit Soi 22, third alley on left, walk down alley to the end on the right is Srinuan Apartments. Nice courtyard, quiet, sign is in Thai.
No web site for this place and I don't know if they have WiFi either but it's closer in on a lower soi and got good reports.
Hi Eric, I have got the best place for you, i stayed here last week.
It is called Omyai. It has free fast wifi. It is literally almost at base of the staircase of chongnonsi bts, it is very clean, comfy and cheap. From 6-900 baht a night.
I took a few pics and posted them here as well as more info including website link.

Yea MeMock, I stayed at Om Yim for the better part of 2 weeks. They've been open about 8 months and only have about 8 rooms so booking in advance, via the internet, is highly recommended. It's an excellent place for a short term stay in BKK. The wifi internet is speedy. The food at the restaurant is top shelf and reasonably priced for a guest house restaurant. It's gay friendly, which should not to be confused with gay only. Upside is they are quite amenable to overnight guests. The location is perfect being right at the foot of Chong Non Si BTS exit # 3. It's the little things that count when you're staying short term like a good bed, top shelf linens, water in the fridge, drinking glasses / coffee provided and helpful (English speaking) staff. You might be able to save a couple hundred Baht a night staying somewhere else but the little things add up when you're here short-term. I'd be surprised if they don't raise their prices come the next high-season considering their low vacancy rate, even now in the low season. When my family comes to visit later this year or if I need to stay in BKK short term again I'll be back at Om Yim. Thanks for the recommendation MeMockOriginally Posted by MeMock

Whenever I land in LoS, I activate the 10,000 baht in 3 day plan ($300):
Crash at Nana Hotel; Soi 4 off Sukhumvit @ Nana Skytrain Station; 1200 / night = 3600 gets you everything you need from a hotel; + 3 nights worth of nut-waxing [whore] 3000. + 6 hours worth of high quality message 2000 [not a whore]. + food and drink...1400.
For 10 grand your pipes are completely clean, your muscles completely relaxed; you are well feed and rested.
Then I start thinking about bargain hunting...
