Really depends on the uni and department. The figure quoted seems about right for a base salary which covers 12 -18 contact hours a week. Many unis allow extra classes (often during normal working hours) which, for English teachers, may pay up to 1000 baht an hour. 60 -70 as a take home pay can be had without too much trouble at SOME private unis.
you probably wont get 40-50 to start. But you will have access to language centers that pay 800 to 1000 baht an hour. You may also get into the graduate programs at up to 1500 baht an hour. Its not really that much more work. As at my university I only teach 9 hours for a full load. Then have another 9 through the Language Center, and a further 3 a week in the Masters Program. So 21 contact hours which is 3 too many for me with lots of OT built in.

Hi Everyone,
I need all of your help, I am a Msc student planning on lecturing in Thailand next year. I have a 3 year ordinary degree and a one year add on honours degree from Ireland. I am now studing the, UK, doing a Msc in Advanced Computing. Could you please provide me with some information and how hard it will be to obtain a computer lecturing job in a university in Thailand, the types of universities there are, and the difference in salary between these different types of universities.
Thank you all so much in advance!!!

Computer lecturing is done by Thais in Thailand.
High School computing jobs are often available.
Do you speak Thai?
Thank you both for your replies
I know the basics to get me around, ordering food, bartering etc. But I would not be fluent and would not feel comfortable holding a lecture in Thai anytime soon
In both countries that I have studied, I have always had lectures of various nationalities, German, American, Indian etc. So in thailand it is by no means the best person for the job? not saying that I am or anything like that, lol, but you seem to be of the opinion that I don't have a hope just because I am not thai?
I heard that in the universities in Thailand, that they speak in english in all lectures, not just the english lectures, is this not true?
What level and type of school do you teach at yourself?

At my private university which has a good Engish program the IT classes are taught in Thai, even if the textbook is in English.
