Can anyone give me any tips about applying to schools from abroad? Does anyone know about Fun Language International Thailand? I've been told the pay isn't great, but they train you and help with accomodation and all that. It's a bit more daunting to just go to Thailand and get work when I am there...what do people recommend? Thanks
That's where I would be dubious ..... ask for contact details of the trainer so you can have a chat, get pics of the rooms they offer and see if they'll let you chat with other employees.Originally Posted by musicalmunky
In Thailand crap pay and crap conditions go in hand in hand - traditional logic (i.e. that some employers who pay less will help make your life real sweet and nice out of the goodness of their heart) really doesn't apply.
Very few companies/schools offer any training or development opportunities at all - my guess is that only the top employers do this.
Assuming you are a Westerner, there is a huge gap between what you would consider acceptable accommodation and what they perceive to be so.
You should really look for the best top-line salary you can get as far from furnishing you with fringe benefits, most (particularly at the bottom end) Thai employers will seek to take back as much of your hard-earned that they can get their hands on!
Excuse me for not taking this seriously .....
