    Job Outlook for November

Hi all, I'm coming over in September and I'll be taking a TEFL course from October 19th to November 13th.

Would it be wise to job hunt in Bangkok prior to obtaining my TEFL?

Most schools go back the first week of November. It may be worth trying to look for places that go back later. There will inevitably be job vacancies as people will jump ship or just not turn up.

    Re: Job Outlook for November

If you pick up a job in November, chances are it will be from someone who ditched the job in October; if so, the school won't know about it until then. There may be some schools who'll be advertising now or regularly, not because they are planning for future developments, but because they have continuous staff turnover. Welcome to Thailand, where there're always shit jobs aplenty.

If you have no prior experience teaching, and I guess that applies to you if you are taking a TEFL, I'd suggest you start scouting around for a job as soon as you arrive here. You could continue to do so while you are studying. Try not to take a job for less than 40,000.

Thanks for the advice. I'd rather not have a "shit job" to begin with but with my timing I can see the possibility of being forced into one. Well, maybe not, if nothing good turns up I may just wait till April.
