Last i checked Thais don't want to be taught by sex tourists, go back home and flip some hamburgers, numpty.
so what your saying then spliff that people with a degree cannot possibly be sex tourists either?i am moving to thailand in a few weeks, dont have a degree either, and im sure my thai gf would have something to say about me being called a sex tourist also!
what a narrow minded cock you appear to be! lets just hope that the interviewers dont think the same as you!
it never ceases to amaze me the amount of negativity on this site, makes you wonder whether the current teachers employed in thailand are simply scared that 'newbies' who go to thailand to teach english will be better than they are and will be after their jobs, hence lets try and put as many people off as possible from making the move!
Bollocks to that. What many people don't realize is on how little one can live comfortable in this country provided he doesn't spend money stupidly. You won't make enough to put anything away on that, but you will make enough to pay rent, eat decently, rent (or eventually buy a motorbike), travel to other provinces, and have a few nights on the town every month.
You just have to live the right lifestyle. Have a few drinks at home with some friends before going out to the bar and don't drink Johnny Walker Black each time. Don't go to the bar every night. Eat lots of street food or cook at home (if you have a kitchen). Don't be stupid with women who wanna gold dig. Stay in cheap guesthouses when you travel. You will have to learn some Thai and make some connections to get around cheaply, but if you live like a Thai in a place that ain't too touristy, it should be easy breezy to get by. People don't come here to make money unless you gotta Thai family to support.
If you fall into the right sitch, however, you could land 25.
more time for wastin'
Out of my mind. Back in five minutes.
Alot of teachers whine about this, yet is there any evidence to show that this actually happens? If one teacher is working for this amount, do all the schools in Thailand get together, discuss this, then reduce the salaries for all the teachers in the country?
Has your salary been cut? Don't you have any control over what job you take or the salary you make from it?

No, but if you have a steady stream of Westerners willing to work for a pittance, then they are going to exert a downward pressure on salaries aren't they?
I edited my post. In my few years on this forum, I have seen that question several times. My income increased every year, more than once per year.
But in general you can see that many people willing to work for a lower salary is going to have a detrimental effect on entry level salaries, right?
It shouldn't affect more qualified candidates, and women![]()
