I would go back to that life in a heartbeat if I were single and slightly younger. Furthermore, I would be happy to live that life for several more years if I were still in a position to do so. Unfortunately I have to wait eight months until my girlfriend and I are ready to travel again and well, I'm hoping to make a career change soon so money has become a concern.
OP, many of the posters here are insecure about the fact that somebody without a degree can do their jobs just as well as them, and are willing to work for less. Yet, we're all white monkeys more or less in the same boat (ooh, I know somebody's gonna try and zap me for that one)!
If creature comforts are not within the realm of your priorities, then pack a bag and set out for Siam. However, I would highly recommend coming with about $2000 or more set aside as "Oh Shit" money because anything can happen and it might take you some time to find a job.
more time for wastin'
It couldn't hurt, but I would have to agree with Tommy K, you might have less options over where you can work without a degree. Another suggestion I would give you is contact an agency. I worked with several people who had no degrees in a very nice part of the North, and the agency sorted out the paperwork and pretty nice wages for these cats (although not as high as mine because I have a degree).
Thanks for the suggestion. I have been searching online but can't find a list of agencies...However I am hoping that my TEFL course providers can give me a list of agencies when I drop in for some 'job placement assistance'. Nevertheless if anyone has the details of any agencies in Thailand which might be able to help me come October/November I would appreciate them.![]()
