Request TEFL Phuket and family accommodation there

    Hello all,
I'm booked into a Feb March course with the above and would love to chat with someone who has experience with the school (I couldn't find it listed in ajar) and any recommendations for medium range family accommodation there for a month.

I've never understood the idea of studying somewhere like Phuket. If the course is decent, there will be very little time for you to hit the beach. Phuket is the kind of place to visit after a CELTA/TEFL course.

I suppose we just have to face it.

TEFL now makes flogging non-existent timeshare condos seem respectable.

I mean, look at the main page.

I have lived 8 years here and I can say, without a doubt, this is the last place to come for a TEFL.
    Nice beaches, though.

As some schools are not associated in any way to the TEFL org, I would recommend Chiang Mai University´s TEFL course. It has more pull coming from a uni than a schooli.

I've literally seen hundreds of folks enjoy Phuket while completing their course over four weeks.

M-Fri morning, it's all about the course and on days that the trainees aren't teaching, they're off by midday.
Fri afternoon-Sun, folks go out to Phi Phi, Lanta, Khao Sok, etc. Easy peasy.

I think diligent sts will be diligent no matter where they are, while the soaks will be soaks in the same respect.

As for accommodation Rick, where is the school? You've got to be very, very close unless you want to rent a motorbike or get ripped off everyday by taxis, both motorbike and tuk-tuk.

I did my TEFL in Phuket. Sat doing homework and revision on the beach is pretty relaxing. Take a break every now and then for a swim and a snooze.

If people followed that routine on the CELTA they would be dead in the water by week three.

There are two types of students on the CELTA - those that are diligent and those that can afford to throw their money away by failing.

    Teaching since '08

Hi- I took the TEFL Phuket course in 2008 and found it to be engaging and I learned a lot; the practice teaching was the most helpful as I hadn't really had a lot of experience in front of a classroom.

I really enjoy Phuket- I haven't been ripped off, the people and students I've interacted with are wonderful. It looks like they have moved to Surin, which is one of my favorite beaches here.

Do it, enjoy the course, have fun with your family! One of the reasons I don't get on forums much any more are the people stuck in their negative opinions; not a healthy environment to be around, but I felt I needed to let people know this is a good school from my own experience.

    Hear hear Cyrille.

I'm surprised that students that aren't teaching in the afternoon are off by midday though. I learned a lot from observing my fellow trainees on the days it wasn't my turn, and I found their feedback invaluable on the days I was front and centre. That probably was the best part of my course. Someone wiser than me once said "to teach is to give feedback".
