Hi, I am living in Nongnamsai in Korat and am looking for work in Korat. I have no degree but have recently completed the TEFL course. I have applied for many many jobs on this website and received no reply. I know having no degree and teaching experience is against me but I really need a chance to "get my foot in the door" and prove i can be a good teacher with a desire to become a great one. I have turned up at a few schools in this area and they seemed interested but I'm not sure they have the money to employ me and I have not heard anything as yet. I am not looking for big money and would be happy with 10,000 per month to gain some experience. Can anyone give me any tips or advice? would appreciate any comments, thanks Alex.

It would seem to me the biggest thing holding you back is not having a degree (which, from what I've read, is REQUIRED). That's likely why you haven't heard back from jobs you've applied for.
Are you American? If so, have you thought of taking classes online through an accredited university in the States? If you already have some college credits, then they can be transferred to whatever university you take online classes with. Stay away from Phoenix University (I've heard some bad things about them), but Ashford University (who I'm taking classes with) has been terrific thus far. www.ashford.edu
I wouldn't even think of applying for a job without first having the proper credentials. Perhaps that should be your first step? Good luck.
Hi thanks for advice , Im British so not sure if that site is ok? Ive been led to believe it is possible although harder to get work without a degree especially in the smaller towns which is where I'm going to concentrate on now. Some people say you can and some say you can't.
Of course you can. Keep up the effort and good luck. Make sure your pants and shirt are nice and clean and well pressed. Dont wear some funky cheap tie, and make sure you have clean nice shoes.

Hi Alex. Send me an e-mail at philip@ajarn.com and I'll try and help you out.
The worst job in Thailand must be the man who has to sit down with a blue marker pen and mark a number two on the two-baht coins to stop people thinking they are one-baht coins.
Thanks very much Phil, I've sent an e-mail, please let me know if you don't receive it as my computer is playing up.
Hi Alex. I got your e-mail and just sent you a reply.
I would think you could still take classes at an American univeristy even though you are British. Perhaps univerisities in the UK have online programs? If you can get a job without a degree, I would still encourage you to take classes and eventually earn a diploma. If you're going to make this a permanent thing, then having the proper qualifications will help you down the road. After all, you don't want to work for 10k a month for the rest of your life. Give yourself a chance to be more successful that that. Best of luck!
Thanks Hollywood, good advice I will certainly look into it, thank you.
