    Hello Fellow Ajarns!

    Love the site.

It's great to have this kind of resource with such a knowledgeable crew.

I've been lurking in the shadows for too long, so I finally decided to become a member.

This will be my first year in Thailand. I recently graduated from uni and was lucky enough to get hooked up with a great job teaching at an international school in Phuket.

Looking forward to getting on well in Thailand!

    Cheers,
    Tron

    Thanks.

What do you do, Mr. Pants? Teaching? How long have you been in Thailand? If you could give 3 tips to a new arrival, what would they be?

This is a different kettle of fish.

Welcome. Have a nice cup of tea. And a biscuit. Sit down and relax - not there, that's my chair.

    1. The super-friendly guy that want to be your friend as soon as you start at a school, yeah? He's the weirdo.

    2. Don't sit in my chair.

    3. Don't bring too much stuff.

Should I also put filling the kettle in the teachers' lounge a priority?

I know at the school where I student taught that was always a bit of a bone of contention. Funny, though.

Sadly I don't teach Thai kids.

The food has been amazing. Climate is great, but a bit too hot.

All and all it's been great so far. The school has treated me extremely well. Package is above average. I still can't believe I got this job!!!

Smashing! (Good). Post some stuff. Watch out for Western Devil - he'll make you watch videos all day if you're not careful: shapeshifters, lizards, God is a peanut, that kind of stuff.

Be very careful if you get your own motorbike, get decent health insurance, and don't believe anyone if they tell you the place you're going is closed.

This was on the news today:

Don't get ripped off if you hire one of those green rubber things.

Good for group parties, paddle them out in the deep water and dive off, also fun to tie them behind a speedboat.

Headline should have been: "Whitest Humans On Earth!"

Did you get your name from the movie, Tron?

I remember a regular, though rather irregular poster who we call 'sponk' saying it was one of his favourite films.

    Anyway - welcome.
