Thread: Teaching jobs for couple

Hi all, im hoping someone will be able to help!
Last summer I spent 6 wks in Thailand with my boyfriend and absolutely loved it!
The thing is, we wud both love to work in Thailand for a year startin around aug/sep 2012.
I'm a qualified english and french teacher with 3 years experience.
My boyfriend will complete his business degree in May 2012.
Do you think it would be possible to get teaching jobs in the same school/location even though he has no experience in teaching?
Any advice wud be greatly appreciated.

Of course it's possible. Make another trip to Thailand and have a look at the teaching situation. Aug/Sep are not be the best months to land a teaching job because school is already in session. Gather all your paperwork, get a police check in your country and come over and see. Simple.

Sometimes schools prefer couples..

I can't see that you'll have problems finding work.

Bear in mind though, that getting into the teaching grind is a lot different than a six week vacation.

I've hired 3 couples in the past. Never had a problem. But you could always tell when they were spatting and it was hilarious.

My wife and I teach at the same school, work in the same staff room and have done for 3 years. Neither of us had any teaching experience prior to coming to Thailand. So yes, very possible. You may well find you're more employable than your boyfriend! Actually there's no maybe about it, you will be. If you present yourself as a couple, or you get your foot in the door somewhere first then he maybe able to "ride in on your coat tails" Good luck!
