    Undergraduate Opportunities in Bangkok

    Hello everyone,

Wasn't sure what 'room' to put this under - so as I'm technically still a newbie; I thought I'd put it here!

Does anyone know if there are currently any undergraduate opportunies (in Engish) at any Bangkok Universities?

I'm looking to spend a few years in Thailand to begin my EFL career - and as my degree isn't exactly in the teaching field I was looking to gain a further BA in English (preferably with an emphasis on TEFL)... to enable me to move further up the career ladder in EFL - in other countries in the future.

I know that Universities back here in the UK offer such a course - but as I was planning to go to Thailand; it would prove more beneficial for me to study there - whilst still holding a teaching position for experience purposes for the duration of my studies (as opposed to working in a pub here Part-time whilst I study! - doesn't really have the same career benefits!).

As a result I'd be attaining the degree part-time. I've found links on the Web about Expats studying for a Masters and such like, whilst teaching..... but as yet am not able to find evidence of any undergraduate opportunities.

Does anybody know anyone currently doing this? Or maybe you are!?

Thanks for all of your help in advance

    Ben

    cheers adam!

Was thinking exactly the same myself! My next questions were going to be:

The credibility of Thai University Degrees Internationally.

    What about the OU?

So.... as you've read my mind (!?)..... do you know of anyone successfully undertaking an OU qualication abroad?
I'd imagine it's ALOT of hardwork!

Pardon? Are you in insinuating the use of a fake degree? I hope not.... apologies if I've got the wrong end of the stick!

Or were you merely pointing out the opportunity to bribe the lecturer come exam day!

As I said - I hold a degree.... was just looking to attain another one in more of a Teaching related field....

He was responding to your question about the credibility of Thai degrees i.e. it's commonly known that you can pay to pass, therefore the credibility is nil.

    Cheers Adam,

I've been having a surf this afternoon.... looks good - although they don't specifically provide an 'Education' degree..... just many relevant teaching undergraduate modules which club together to form a "BA Tailored to you own Requirements".....

Sounds onamous! All the modules that I'm picking seem to fit together quite nicely under a Teaching 'umbrella' field.... however - I'm going to attend an Open Day before I travel out, to ensure the subjects I'm picking have the relevant continuity.

Judging by your recommendation of the OU - I presume you're currently studying with them? Or perhaps connected with them in some other way?

Get in touch if so - and we can have a chat off board - my addy is in my profile.

    Cheers!

    Ben
