So it has to be a central location in Bangkok? Or would you be happy to commute (for that 1 month)?
I have a condo at ??????????? ????? ?????????????????? By ??????? ????? ????????????? ????? a song taew ride from the old airport. Don Mueang. You can get a furnished condo there for a month for about 5.5 k plus bills. Aircon, elevators, cable tv, and they have a nice gym & pool but it costs extra.

To go to Central World is a 6 Baht song taew ride and the 504 bus for 20 Baht.

DON MUEANG, the old airport aka "DMK". Not sure why those question marks appear?

I would get a job first, but that could just be me. I would prefer to try and limit my commute time to/from work before I settled on anything. You never know where you're going to end up teaching....there could be cheap housing (or housing of a similar price) right next door...

I don't think cheap housing is a high priority in Bangkok.
ANOther REAL' good reason NOT to go to korea! wow!
Is that true you found a place for 2,900/MO..? where?

While you will pay more on average if you are lazy, it is also very easy to get a monthly place for the same kind of rates. I have found plenty of monthly or 3month rental places under 6k.

Granted these are shoeboxes but you get what you pay for. You won't find them doing a google search at home. Find an area and walk around the sois and you will be rewarded. Numerous places down Soi 7 Ratchada behind the old Carrefour. Pra Cha Song Kor is also an area to consider for cheap rooms in central area. Friend rented a room there for 4000 per month for 2 months (soi 27).

Make sure you can speak Thai or bring someone along who can help communicate for you.
