Hi Guys,
Introductory post.........and obligatory question:
Am keen to make the move pre-retirement and teach for a while in Thailand.
My wife and I currently live in Perth, hold Aussie passports and need a change in lifestyle before retiring back to Australia.
My wife is a Clinical Nurse (many years experience) and I have MBA from Aussie university and am currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Vocational Education. I have no formal teaching experience but have given many presentations at work, have mentored countless employees and also hold a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (Qualification needed to lecture in our vocational system).
Our plan is to teach for a few years (Thailand?) before retiring; any helpful comments and guidance from "Ajarners" most appreciated.
Cheers,
Mikey123.
Buy an airplane ticket. Get a double entry tourist visa. Arrive here in April (with your documents and cash in hand - it may be cheap but getting set up ain't free) and Bob's yer Uncle.

Personally I would add a CELTA or a Cert IV teaching TESOL. The CELTA is better recognised, and hence bit priceier. The CertIV TESOL is not well recognised outside of Aus but it is essentially a copy of CELTA and will give you the basics. Either will also allow you to teach back in Aus after you get back if you want.
