that must be it
Girls don't seem to last here in my experience. I mention it because, well, I don't know, maybe the whole thing is a lot different from what all these girls were expecting? I have personally seen many of them high tail it, without even giving notice. What are you expecting of your teaching experience? If the answer to that is anything other that "a bunch of screaming, unruly students who don't give a squat about English and hopefully some slightly rewarding students and a Thai staff that will be more than unaccommodating" then I would think twice. It definitely isn't a beach resort with some relaxing and attentive students on the side.
Maybe it has much to do with the preponderance of deadshit expat men in Thailand who can't/won't leave because they have nothing to go back to...

You have to excuse many of the posters here on AF ...they've lost most of their social skills around women that are not paid to listen to them.
To be honest you asked some pretty general questions which won't get much of a response because it's too difficult to give answers that are relevant to your particular circumstances.
Come up with some specific things and you'll get better responses.
Papa was a rodeo - Mama was a rock'n'roll band
I could play guitar and rope a steer before I learned to stand
I'm from Nottingham...I do miss it sometimes.
Beautiful summer evening, drinks round the castle, a few down Hockley.
A pleasant afternoon on Wollaton Park, the Forest Recreation Ground or the Arboretum. Goose fair in October.
Christmas shopping in Vicky Centre....Trent Embankment. The cattle Market....
I think I need to go home for a couple of weeks....
Man and boy in that place.
My first pint of Shipstones at age 15....It's still there with the same people and customers. I have known some of them for more than 30 years.

This being the newbie zone makes it a safe haven for, well you know, the T-word. They like to advertise their dissatisfaction. Just saying ...
I don't understand this. Maybe they have nothing in their own nation to go back to. Too bad they're 195 more countries in the world. I've lived in all kinds of countries. I stay till it feels like it's time to go. To me it's not running, hiding, avoidance or easy women. It's an action against the boredom of the predictable. And life in the USA is predictable.
^^
It's short for, The Victoria Centre....
There used to be a place that sold American sweets on the second floor of the Victoria Centre way at the back far from Lower Parliament street. Highly recommended.
But the best thing about Notts will always be drinking a Mild at Ye Olde Trip.
It just seems a bit disappointing that people can’t perhapsbe a little more courteous, regarding giving their advice – considering manypeople will have oodles of experience.
Firstly I have an awful lot of experience of students who ‘don’tgive a squat about English’ as you put it. I have worked with young offenders 13-21 forthe last 2 years. Im well aware of students who seem like they don’t want tolearn.
Secondly I am not tefling. I am an SEN teacher.
I basically want to know the following –
1. My employee is paying for my visa is there anythings I need to arrange, or get, or do before I get there regarding theworking visa?
2. As I mentioned previously, there is likelihood thatI could be based in either of Bangkok or Pattaya. I would like to know of thebetter areas to look for accommodation, and if there is anything regarding accommodationthat people would say is preferable, and what sort of price I should be paying.I would like something with 1 bedroom and appropriate amenities – including internetconnection –unless this isn’t realistic.
3. Is it easy to socialise in Thailand? Ipreviously lived in Greece for a couple of years and it was easy to socialiseon the mainland, and very easy to get around.
4. Finally I currently have a UK bank account whichisn’t an international company. Does it work best to open a bank account with aThai bank, or to use an international banker like HSBC for example.
Im not sure how more detailed I can make this.
But thanks in advance to anyone who might just assist.
(the sweet shops still there)

...and great shout on Hockley and the Trip, Im partial to The Caslte pub too!
Maybe I should give a long-winded speech and try and convince myself and others, why I needed to get away and find a new world and a new me...When all I really should of done was try a little harder at the time.
It's amazing how just a few thoughts can stir such emotion....
sounds emotional
