My name is Robert Coffee and I signed up today. I have lived in Thailand for the past 7 years and I currently live in Phrae. I am retired from the US Navy Submarine Service and I currently work as a Field Service Engineer for a large US Engineering firm. For the past 3 months I have been volunteering as an English Teacher at the local school in my sub-district and teach P1 thru 6 amd M1 thru 3. I find this enjoyable and rewarding and I am currently considering pursuing this as a career upon retirement or sooner.
Best Regards,
Robert Coffee
Welcome aboard Coffee. Point Loma?
phrae? are you in the town itself or outside?
Welcome to the board.
We could all sit outside on banana lounges discussing the best way to rebuild a 4WD transmission and agree, through shared stories of conquests supporting our assertions, that there is no basis to the proposition that those least assured of their persuasions are the first to condemn others for theirs.
Pearl Harbor my whole career.
---Update---
Outside of Phrae the village is named Ban Wiang, near Ban Oi. Know of it?
Now you are a teaching volunteer. Has your school offered you employment for pay?
Please feel free to ask questions about teaching in Thailand. I haven't been to Phrae but other forum members may know about your province/amphur.
Well Kinda, I have a Honda Phantom I scoot around on

The short answer is yes. Processed the paperwork to the Phrae Education Office and they have accepted me as a teacher and say that I am eledgible for 10K/month. They are having their Tra-annual Inspection from some outside government agency out of Lampang (best I could get out of them). The next step is to process the paperwork for my work permit. Next week I guess. When I first started I wasn't too concerned about the money. But now that I'm thinking about doing this for a career I have developed a keener interest.

Haven't received a penny yet so it won't be too hard to swallow, LOL!
Glad to hear you have a good sense of helping behavior. Can't speak for everyone here but if you need some help getting on with it please post any challenges and do expect helpful replies.
Thanks a bunch
Just a quick update here. I was able to procure my Type B Non Immigration Visa. I recently had my teachers' licence approved by the Teachers Council in Bangkok and I should have it posted/mailed to me in about 3 weeks. Once I have the licence in hand then the work permit is just a paper work shuffle in the city where I live. So all is good, not easy, but good.
