Im just looking for individuals who are participating in the Special Thai Project TESOL program in October 2012 in Phuket. I'm considering this for myself and if anyone has any information on this program who has experienced it, that would be great.

Hey! I was originally looking at the Special Thai Project too. The price was very attractive and the guaranteed work placement, but I wasn't crazy about the 4-5 month commitment required before you receive your certificate. I'll be arriving in Thailand in October as well!

What was that old adage about a fool and their money or perhaps the other one that is incorrectly attributed to P.T. Barnum, "There's one born every minute."

Take a TESOL cert and get a job. Getting placed as cheap labor by your cert provider is never a good idea and waiting until after your placement is completed to get your cert is just plain foolish.

If you have a degree, an anglophone passport and a pulse, then get on a plane and get a job.
IF you like the work then take a TESOL/TEFL/CELTA during your vacation break and move up the food chain.

If you don't have a degree then good luck to you either way (since you won't be working legally anyway).
