Hello! Climbing and nature. Where should I live?

    Hi guys.

I’m Tom. I’m 27 years old. I currently live in South Korea, but am originally from the UK.

I recently spent my summer vacation climbing in Ton Sai, Krabi and partying in Phuket. While away, it occurred to me that I might want to swap Korea for Thailand.

I have a B.A., a CELTA and in March 2013, I’ll have two years experience working in a Korean public middle/high school.

I’m pretty sure I want to work in a government school as that’s what I’m used to. I’m also pretty sure I don’t want to live in Bangkok as I prefer the countryside to big cities.

I hear the best thing to do is go to the location you want to live and visit the schools in that area.
My question to you knowledgeable lot is where might be a good place for a guy like me to live?
I don’t mind working in a rural school and I’d like access to good climbing if possible. If it's cheap to live there, then that's a bonus.

Thanks for any advice you can offer. I look forward to hanging out here more

    Tom

In Nakhom Sri Tammaarat west of the city there is a small but respectable mountain range with lots of rivers and hiking trails. Most people don't go off the trails but there are some pretty good peaking mountains there. There are a couple of national parks nearby as well with mountains. There are a couple of fairly good government schools in the city and a Rajabhat as well.

West of Chumporn towards Burma there are mountains as well. This area is pretty famous as the woods where the lefty Thai rebels of the 60s retreated. Chumporn has some government schools, three I think. Most of the good mountains are in the North West. Don't know much about that area.
