Icon7 Hey all! - Starting teaching in Satun/Trang Province!

    Hey guys,

Just thought I'd sign up to the forums here as I have been reading the guides on Ajarn.com for a while now and it seems like it makes sense to join here now that I've finally made it to Thailand! My name is Steve and I'm about to start teaching English to M1-M6 in a town called Thung Wa, north of Satun province. It's almost in Trang province.. hence why I included it in the title!

Anyway, I'm a lone foreigner in this town (Although I haven't found anyone YET!) so if anyone is nearby and fancies a drink/meet-up/adventure then send me a message! A little bit about me... I've just finished university studying Management in London and decided to move to Thailand to teach for a fun yet worthwhile experience! I've spent the last few weeks travelling around Thailand (Chiang Mai, Koh kood, Koh Chang, Had Yai, Krabi, Koh Phi Phi) but now it's finally time to settle down here for 4 months..

    Looking forward to chat!

    Steve

P.S. Feel free to add me on Facebook too!

    Welcome Steve.

How many periods a week are you going to teach? Good luck, let us know how it goes for you.

I think some posters here are in Songkhla, maybe.

Hi Steve and welcome. I haven't been to that part of Thailand yet, but hubby is taking me there over Christmas and New Years. Yay! If you're around at that time, maybe we can meet up. I'll add you on FB too.

Hey all, thanks for the welcome! I just found out today that I'm teaching 21 periods a week. No idea how its gonna go yet as I haven't done any actual teaching yet, only an English camp. Hopefully it shouldn't be too bad. I've been preparing some introductory lesson ideas so I can get to know the students and vice versa!

Awesome Natalie! Let me know where you are. Hopefully I can do a bit of exploring and let you know where's good!

Good luck Steve with your classes. Just remember to always have a "plan B" in every lesson, and you'll be fine!

Steve, ya, I'll get in touch when we're in that area. I looked for your name on FB but there are a few Steve Stubbs. I see three, all with profile pics. What's your profile pic?

Hey Natalie. Haha no worries. It's like me in the middle with a white top with two girls and the top of the photo is kinda purple!

    Good luck Steve.

Satun won't represent much of a break in terms of weekend getaways.

Unless of course you enjoy block after block of that blue PVC piping

There's a bit of a westerner hang out there...but very small.

Sounds like your quite out there.

    Nice countryside.

HatYai/Songkhla is probably going to be your best bet for short getaways.

Good luck. 21 hours a week is not bad.

My girlfriend and I are in Songkhla. If you find yourself down here and fancy grabbing a beer with someone under 60 drop me a line.
