The Powder Room is a private section of Ajarn Forum. You are able to read it because you have been identified as probably female (not including moderators and me, Admin).
I say "probably" as there are a lot of strange people lurking out in cyberspace and it's quite possible that someone will slip through the net at some point, but the general idea is that it's a bit of beathing space away from the high testosterone levels of the main forums for our minority of female members to have a chat and discuss their experience of Thailand without getting hijacked by our predominently male readership. It might also be a useful place to ask advice on issues that maybe women are better at answering and men might not be too helpful with.
I don't want to encourage segregation or even elitism, which I'm sure I'll be accused of at some point should the existence of this area become public, but I am trying to make some space on thsi forum where female members might actually WANT to hang out at for more than a couple of posts.
I'm in experimental mode right now so don't expect this forum to definitely work, but we'll give it a go. For now please do not talk about this forum on the main sections, please do not quote from it elsewhere on Ajarn Forum, and if you come accross any ladies who are not currently memebrs (newbies for example, please contact me rather than them. I will be passing on the membership duties of this forum to someone else at spome point but until I know where it's headed I'll keep the reigns for now.
Imposters will find themselves permenantly banned, though I'm considering extending membership to male gay members, though I'm still undecided.

Don't get me wrong - I don't want a 'serious' board but I'd like posts to be either genuinely amusing, informative and/ or thought provoking.

LDMA,
Just would like to express my thank for your effort to give us a special place or to get rid of us from your main macho rooms. Girls out there, please give me a shout. Wonder how many of us are here.![]()
You're welcome KDMA....

Oh and to answer your question there's about 14 known ladies admitted to this part of the forum so-far. I'll be sending a mailing list notification in due course and get some threads rolling on here.
I am here KDMA and trying to think of a good thread to start off with.
I will contact the other women I know on this board and get it rolling.
A little busy right at this moment though.
The inconsiderate people I work for expect me to some work occasionally.
The hide of them!
I think this is great!!!
hey!
i think i seemed a bit confrontational in the other threads i tried to be in but no  the men got the better of me. i'm in!

I am so happy to find a female zone - I like the forum but I always feel like I am in the minority... I am definitely up for this!

Thanks, LDMA, this was the best idea ever. Sorry about my man bashing on some of the posts in the last day, but I have been made to feel really bad on the open forum, so it's nice to find a place to hang out.
I will be a permanent member

Hi:
I'm new to all of this. I've signed on to the infamous Special Thai project run by tefl intl. Anyone done it before? Also- are there any women out there over the age of 30?
Yes, I am 37.

Travelmonkey, good luck on the new course. I'll be heading to phuket in a months time. Would love to meet up for a drink?
Travelmonkey I am WAY over 30 and will start teaching in Phuket in September.Phuketbound, do try and get to the south of the island, a little more rural and laid back. I keep saying it (to a select few (: ) little Naiharn beach is the best.
Hello out there! I'm not in Thailand yet, but will be in June. Any 'heads up' for me before I arrive?
Hello!
