Acttached is an example of an exercise that practices a few things:
Skills: Listening and Speaking
Ordinal numbers, alphabetical order, and numbers.
You could also add things like: Could you repeat that, please? and Could you hold on a second, please?
-Cut the pages in half and give each S one 'secret word'. Be sure to let them know not to let their partner see it!
-Ss in pairs. Need pencil and paper. Student A reads the lines to B. Tell them they can only read each line twice.
-Monitor to make sure they're doing it. Encourage the recieving student to actively make the requests above in English, they'll need to.
-What else am I forgetting? Don't know, but it's self-evident when you look at the activity. Good for check pronunciation on ordinals, and the /th/ sound at the end of lots of them in particular which is a bitch for Thai speakers!
