Open Source (wiki) Curriculum resource
Fellow Ajarns:
I haven't posted in years. I taught in Bangkok for four years and returned to my home country three years ago after my son was born.
Just heard a radio show where Scott McNeally, Chairman of Sun Microsystems, discussed
"an education initiative called Curriki that he spearheaded at Sun and has since been spun off into a nonprofit. Curriki, a play on the words 'curriculum' and 'wiki', is a nonprofit organization that is building the first and only Internet site for Open Source Curriculum (OSC), which will provide universal access to free curricula and instructional materials for grades K-12."
If you're stuck with a class that has inadequate materials, like I did (Health class was a teeny tiny booklet that needed to last an entire semester!) then this resource would have been extremely valuable.
The FAQs are a good place to start with this, and I thought it might be of help to many of you as you're often times expected to write NEW curriculum for your grade.
I think this is a fantastic idea and the more it can be utilized globally, the better.
Unfortunately, since I have not posted in ages, I'm unallowed to include the URL, but an org at the end of the URL plus curriki will get you to where you need to go for this.
