I've used many of these songs over the years when teaching. You can reinforce grammar points, pronunciation, and teach, using songs. Songs such as Days of the Week, The Alphabet Song, One, Two, Buckle my Shoe are examples how you can teach using songs.
For many of these songs, I also teach gestures (actions) to go with. In my opinion, children learn and remember more if you can use more than one learning style. Other songs here, are just fun for children. If you have extra time, or you are teaching singing, then maybe these can be of use to you.
The Karaoke songs, all come with lyrics that are helpful if you are teaching a song. Some of these songs are good for a warmer, just to get them moving.
Feel free to add onto this list. I will add onto it over time. I'm currently teaching singing for a club activity. The Rabbit Foo Foo song is a good one for the children to act out.

Good inormation PB.
I would use those up to a maximum of P4.
After that more modern pop and rock is what you want.
And these are very hard to find.
Anybody found any songs of a more modern/current nature for the P5 through Matayom years .
I have about seven. I know what works but am having a hard time expanding on the list.
A good song has to have a very easy and catchy chorus. It also have to slow and clear enough.
Two good examples are Rod Steward Sailing and Denver's Country Roads.
99.9 percent of western pop, folk, rock, etc. just won't fly.
“America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”

My very young students always liked 'Ring a Ring a Rosie'. Very good for teaching 'Up' and 'down' and 'fall'. In fact they liked it so much, we couldn't get past it.
They also loved the 'atishooooo' part.
These were three and four year olds.
^I can relate to that.. kids love that song! It makes me dizzy after awhile!
Great question, Russ.
You can try and find songs that your students like on youtube, but I have a better idea.
Last year, I downloaded free Karaoke software, called the Karafun player. This is a karaoke player, that you can play songs on, using a T.V, or a screen projector. The kids absolutely love it.
You can download the newest songs from the software, but this will cost you money. Instead, what I did last year, was I asked my students what songs they liked (English), and then I made my own Karaoke version on the Karafun editor that comes with the software. Some of the songs that I made into Karaoke songs (with the free player you can slow down the tempo or speed up, so the students can read the words). Some of the songs I made using the editor, included, Dancing Queen, I Just Called to Say I Love You, Let It Be, etc..
Karaoke software and songs
One of the the teacher trainers here in Seoul, has a whole load of free songs to download on his website. I've included my songs on his site. Other than just karaoke songs, he has a tonne of other new songs that students usually know.
You have to register with his site, but it is worth it.

Thanks Phuket. Great info.
