Math Resources Online...

Hi all,

I just got a Math teacher gig with a government organization and would like to know what are some great Math sites for resources?

I am familiar with a few sites (like Math.com - World of Math Online), but am wondering if there are better ones out there.

I will be preparing underprivileged young adults (18-24) for a test similar to a GED test. I will be covering basic arithmetic thru basic geometry.

Hi! I'm a math teacher too.

I don't use the internet much to get handouts and such. We've got a crapload of books and stuff here luckily. I'm sure somebody else will chip in with advice on those types of sites.

As far as teaching techniques go, I've found these math teaching videos very instructional for developing my own presentations:

I assume the GED is like a school-leavers certificate, right ? Something like the GCSEs available in the UK ? There's a Basic Skills course in the UK for people who don't pass any GCSEs. This linky-link might be useful as well:

Free numeracy worksheets all* linked to UK adult core numeracy curriculum (worth looking around this website as it has lots of pdf files featuring integrated maths skills at very low level which you could adapt/tailor to Thailand)

It is actually called the the TABE (Test for Adult Basic Education) Test. I believe it is identical to the GED test.

I will take a look at Phooey's and OYK's links (there may be some useful info I can use), Thanks peeps!

Math Playground - Mostly for elementary and middle school students. I'm not sure if this is too basic for your students.

Is anyone here familar with the TABE (Test for Adult Basic Education) test in the States? I am preparing students to take this test for Math. I did Google it, but did not find any good sites yet that cover this. I am looking for free worksheets mostly and a good overall site for resources that covers this area. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

What about applications for making worksheets and lesson plans?

I know MS Word has an add-in for Math, but am wondering if there is a simpler app to use. It takes too long with MS word. A link for this would be appreciated
