Hey guys, hope you're all well.
Almost 2 years ago, I started a thread on the Ajarn Forum in which I asked if there were any websites that had good quality fully planned ESL lessons. That post is below.
http://www.ajarnforum.net/vb/the-cla...ns-online.html (Pre-planned lessons online?)
I got a few useful suggestions from that thread. I found that there were a lot of free worksheets out there. Despite this however, I still struggled to find lessons which were complete, free, well planned and interesting. My standards were (and probably still are) a little too high. I became quite disillusioned. Disillusioned to the extent that I stop searching the internet and planned everything myself from scratch.
So a year ago I thought "If I can't find the site I'm looking for, perhaps I should be the one to make it." I already had some really good lessons by that point, however, to make this happen I would have to learn web development.
To cut a long story short, I've toiled for the past year and yesterday it happened...my own site went live:
Teaching Truffles - Home Page - All of the lessons on my site are complete, free, well planned and (I hope) interesting.
At present there are only 7 lessons on there, but I've got a whole bunch waiting to be added. A mantra that drove the site's development was "quality is more important than quantity". This is something I feel strongly about.
So go have a quick peek. Even better try one of my lessons and don't forget to let me know what you think. Remember, I made this site for you.
Enjoy,
Dave
It's a great idea. Good luck to you!!
Looks great so far Dave. Good effort.
Do you have coke?
Many thanks for the encouraging responses so far. It's only day 2 so it's early days. If it only helps a few people then at least it helped someone. I'm pretty new to this whole website thing so it's an adventure at the very least!
Good work Dave.
I've just bookmarked the page for future use.
Cheers
It wasn't me............I wasn't even there.
You did a good job with those materials. Good luck Dave.

... Cards and Tippling, And growing every day a lovelier stripling; With half a College Education got, Half Clown, half Prig, half Pedant and half Sot...
Very impressive David.
And a considerable effort on your part.
Well done and good luck.
nice looking man. the ideas in the lessons are very extendable into to other activities. when i read through the lessons, i was constantly getting ideas of other things to do. thats the good stuff man.
im not so crazy about the board game format, but what i like is how youve used that as a platform and made things diverse, from then on. a good approach and for my 2 cents, its nice to see that youre finding ways to get as much language use out of an activity- like getting them to recycle language and keep on squeezing that orange! theres always more juice in there!use it and go back over it again. these games, if you can get a routines built up with your students, can be a great way to introduce something, or to clarify and solidify it later on. that is, the gamey interactiveness of it is fun, but not inherently something thats communicative time and time again. but its a fun way to go back over something, or to introduce a communicative act with a bit of chance/competititon.

You're a star, man. It all looks hunky-dory and very modern, love.
"Take this, brother; may it serve you well."
Thanks for the positive comments guys, it's really encouraging. I plan to add a couple more lessons to the site within the next 4 weeks. I'll post on this forum when I do.
I haven't been able to add much to the site in the last couple of months because I got a new job which has been eating into my website time. That said, I've got 4 weeks off now so I'll have the chance to pick up where I left off.
Dave

You can post about anything else in the meantime though, Dave. Know what I mean?
Some of us on here are absolute beginners, others are in their golden years. There are a lot of young Americans who worry (needlessly) about Brit/US 'English' even though there aren't really that many changes between the two.
Best of luck anyway.
You're basically saying our Davey should just put on the red shoes and dance the Blues?
Well, planet Earth is blue and there's nothing I can do...
There are few problems in life that cannot be solved with toast.
One of them, however, is opening a can of corned beef with that stupid key. This cannot easily be done at the best of times, and toast is of surprisingly little use in resolving the issue.
