Rape case dropped, for B30,000

A young Thai man accused of raping an Israeli tourist at Chiang Rai early on Thursday morning surrendered to police yesterday and managed to get the charges against him dropped _ after offering to pay his victim 30,000 baht. Ronapee Nakum, 22, turned himself in at Tambon Bandu police station in Chiang Rai and admitted that he had sex with the female tourist who lodged a complaint with police that she had been raped on Thursday, according to police.
But Mr Ronapee denied he had raped the Israeli, insisting it was consensual sex after he met the 22-year-old at a downtown disco.
Both sides eventually reached agreement while the police mediated.
Mr Ronapee agreed to pay the tourist 30,000 baht and she agreed to withdraw the complaint, said police.
The tourist also said she would donate 20,000 baht to the foundation which assisted her after the incident.

wtf?! "complaint"? Alleging a crime has occured is not a "complaint". Which is it, rape or a "complaint"?

That is way toooo cheap.

1. Maybe the case was not strong, and it may have been consensual, or semi-consensual.

I got my head-kicked in badly by a street scumbag years ago when I was a child. I would have gladly seen the guy swing at the time if they'd caught him.

This Israeli says she's been raped, but is willing to let bygones be bygones, for 30, 000 Baht!! Give me a break.

Either she has no self-respect, she's lying or the truth of the story's been skewed by the paper.

Or the guy didn't have any more than 30,000 baht and she decided to make the most of a bad situation.

She might have been 'bullied' into this by uninterested police. We're not being very charitable here, are we? And she did give most of it away, so we can't say she's motivated by money.

She's a JEW!! She was offered MONEY!! The Jews WORSHIP money!! Their whole lifestyle and religion is based on MONEY!
