It depends on who the feedback comes from. Are you telling me that Europe, Australia and others have something valuable to offer? And further, do those countries listen to the U.S. on how to run their own countries?

A soldiers job is to follow orders. Think how much chaos there would be if every Regiment had to have a political debate before every mission. It just doesn't work that way. You sign up; you do what they tell you.

Actually, the Iraq war has provoked debate among military officers on this very matter. Perhaps it is the job of a General to tell his C-in-C when he thinks foreign policy has devolved into utter madness.
Incidentally, the British army did experience a mutiny from its officers in 1914:

The Army's chief is the president, the president got the trust and picked by the people....as a nation, we're in it together. Let do the best we can at the moment and hope thing will turn out better for our children and grand children.
