I learned my lesson with Hill "I'm entitled" Clinton. Wait until the cut-off date to place your bet. You never know what will happen in elections until the final pre-election polls are taken. Right now, I'd bet on McBush, even though Obama would win today in the popular vote. Things will firm up in September after the euphoria following the Democratic convention fades.

With an extremely unpopular president and war and the economy in the doldrums or worse, why is this election so close. At least one recent poll has McCain ahead of Obama and most have seen a significant narrowing of Obama's lead. I know that a lot of people like McCain, and he is certainly the only Republican with any chance of winning, but why isn't Obama a lot further ahead at this time.
The Democratic convention starts next week, so with the naming of a VP running mate (Biden) and the nominating convention Obama should get a pretty good bump. However, after that comes the Republican concention which should also give McCain a boost.
The Democrats have taken a very big gamble this year with Obama and the message of change. If they win, the Democrats will probably control the government for a generation, but that is if they win. It should be looking a lot better for them at this time than it is.
they're still surprisingly close in the polls though...it isn't gonna be a cakewalk at all

will McCain's announcement tonight be seen as a selfless piece of of bipartisanship or a cynical stunt to outmanouvre Obama when he's having a tough time of it?
i know what i think! politicians cannot be non political unless they don't speak. it's a throw of the dice by McCain, but how will it play out with voters?
I knew McCain would chicken out. The rehearsals are not going well. Old man cant remember his lines.
