a paragraph from todays washington post:
"A Chinese woman, proud that she can afford to rent a new apartment near the "bird's nest" National Stadium, said in an interview that she would love to show it off, except that her lease included a clause that she not invite any foreigners to her place until after the Olympics. She spoke on the condition of anonymity because she didn't want to risk losing her apartment."

....is there any reason why we should respect such nonsense?
1. china is not a superpower. they have a weak and fragile economy based on foreign investment. a lot of the profits leave the country.
2. the squelching of any divergent viewpoint , for me, proves they are weak.
3. a large military doesnt make a superpower.
4. you cannot export xenophobia. no one wants to buy it. see: usa, coca cola, michael jordan, and other ways of inclusion
5. their branching out into sudan, burma and other places is criminal. although the usa is guilty as heck of doing bad, if not worse, we at least have plenty of good works to show for it.
6. their olympics is a mere cash game. they shouldnt have been allowed to host a game where humanity and freedom is the ESSENTIAL part of why we participate. a complete sell out.
china is not free. for that very fact alone, they get afrom me.
rant over!
just wanted to vent after reading some stuff that just made me scratch my head...why do we even respect these people?
