Do polls really show anything? Surely if polls were 'correct'....Hizza Clinton would be the presidential candidate?
Who you say you're going to vote for and who you do (or even if you bother voting) are often two different things?

Gallup's latest is Obama 49%, McCain 43%, a six point lead. They also said that this probably didn't reflect any result from the Republican convention.
Gallup's latest is Obama 48%, McCain 44%, so this would indicate that the race is getting closer.
However, as people should know by now, the president will not be determined by the popular vote but by the Electoral College. CNN has recently moved a couple of tossup state to leaning toward Obama. With "safe" and "leaning" states, Obama has 243 Electoral College votes to McCain's 189. To win requires 170 votes, and there are states in the "tossup" category with 106 electors.
So in this regard it is beginning to look better for Obama, even if the popular vote is closing. However, everything depends upon those "tossup" states, plus, of course, keeping your states with you.
