no, don't think that, but that's what happens when Israel attacks one of the most densely populated places on earth? Franny, why do you defend Israel attacking Gaza to protect Israel's peace? with that logic, the Palestinians should be able to attack Israel for Palestine's land, right?
this will only be solved with a "land for peace" deal which Israel is trying hard to avoid because they don't want to give up the illegal apartheid-like Jew only settlements in the west bank for 300,000 settlers and the right wing Zionists think that the land was given to them by God.
Arab Peace Initiative - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In November 2008, The Sunday Times reported that American president-elect Barack Obama is going to support the plan, saying to Mahmoud Abbas during his July 2008 visit to the Middle East that "The Israelis would be crazy not to accept this initiative. It would give them peace with the Muslim world from Indonesia to Morocco."[30]

Israeli attack kills 60-70 members of one family:
Information Clearing House - ICH
January 08, 2009 "The Telegraph" --- Mohammed Shaheen, a volunteer with Palestinian Red Crescent, was in the first convoy of ambulances to reach the site of the blast in Zeitoun since it was first occupied then shelled by the Israeli army.
His testimony confirmed accounts, first reported in The Telegraph, from survivors of the extended al Samouni clan who said they feared between 60 and 70 family members had been killed.
"Inside the Samouni house I saw about ten bodies and outside another sixty,'' Mr Shaheen said.
"I was not able to count them accurately because there was not much time and we were looking for wounded people.
"We found fifteen people still alive but injured so we took them in the ambulances.
"I could see an Israeli army bulldozer knocking down houses nearby but we ran out of time and the Israeli soldiers started shooting at us.
"We had to leave about eight injured people behind because we could not get to them and it was no longer safe for us to stay.'' Mr Shaheen was in a convoy led by a jeep from the International Committee of the Red Cross that made its way down war-damaged tracks past demolished houses to the town of Zeitoun.
Concerns had been growing that Zeitoun had witnessed massive civilian casualties after surviving members of the Samouni clan reached Gaza City three days ago.
They said that after the Israeli army first took the town on Saturday night soldiers had ordered about 100 members of the clan to gather in a single house owned by Wael Samouni around dawn on Sunday.
At 6.35am on Monday the house was repeatedly shelled with appalling loss of civilian life.
A handful of survivors, some wounded, others carrying dead or dying infants, made it on foot to Gaza's main north-south road before they were given lifts to hospital. Three small children were buried in Gaza City that afternoon.
According to the survivors between 60 and 70 family members had been killed by shrapnel and falling masonry.
Convoys of ambulances twice headed to the area to look for wounded but they were driven back by Israeli shooting.
During today's three hour lull in offensive operations by Israel, the ICRC led the rescue convoy in although it took a long time for the convoy to make its way down war-damaged.
According to Mr Shaheen, the death toll was as high as described by the survivors.UN: Israel shelled house where civilians were held - Yahoo! News
A U.N. agency says Israeli troops evacuated Palestinian civilians to a house in Gaza City, then shelled the building 24 hours later.
The U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs says the shelling occurred Monday, two days after Israel began its ground offensive against Hamas militants in Gaza.
Based on eyewitness testimony, the account added details Thursday to an incident previously reported by The Associated Press and an Israeli human rights group.
The U.N. agency says 110 people were in the house and 30 people were killed, far higher figures than in other accounts.
It says the Red Cross was blocked from reaching the area until three days later.
The Israeli military had no comment on the report Friday.

Right on!
Obama needs to be the one to step up to the platform as he said he would do, to provide peaceful resolutions. No time like the present.
The video is disturbing. To see that many deaths, children and adults, is the point of the video. Gaza will be a 'ghost strip' in the near future if this bombing continues.
This is an excellent website of blogs, and videos built up by 'Global Voices Online' about the Gaza bombings.

Come on guys, most of the Arabs inside and outside of Palistine are growing tired of Hamas.
"Goddamn it Lord, bless oh ye this bacon..."

they have. and lost.
deals have been reached. cease fires have been broken. we've been there already.
my solution would be to have US troops push israel back; get massive international aid, assistance, and companies to invest in palestine- to build a legit place to live.
israel wont do it on its own. when (not if) they get attacked, they will not restrain. so there needs to be an authority, like the US who can shut israel up (we own them basically- we supply all their military)...we go in, tell them to back off- or else....and allow the palestinians room to blossom.
land deals havent worked.
like the old addage: if i only had an exercise machine, then id get into shape.
the reality is, is that palestne cant do it on its own. if they havent started, they wont anytime soon. much like the lazy person looking for an excuse, so is palestine looking for a demon to point the finger at.
you know there are plenty of rich palestinians? they all keep their money (and families) out of palestine. thats their problem. international cover, legitimately, might bring them back to invest in their own country.

Israel fired the first shots to break the 6 month cease fire with Hamas.
agree with your other ideas which should be implemented along with the Arab Initiative where Israel gets recognized by the Muslim world in exchange for a Palestinian State.
negotiations have broken down many times, but fortunately Diplomats are a different breed and don't give up. There are still diplomats from Israel and Palestine, like Saeb Erakat, chief negotiator for the Palestinians who believe that "land for peace" can be achieved.
you make peace with your enemies, not friends, of course.

UNITED NATIONS - Palestinian children are dying at a heavy rate in the Israeli-Hamas fighting — about one of every three persons killed, according to Gaza statistics.
As of Thursday, 257 children were among the approximately 760 reported dead in Gaza. There were another 1,080 children among the 3,100 injured in the conflict, according to statistics from Gaza's health ministry.
The U.N.'s top humanitarian official, John Holmes, described the numbers as "credible" and deeply disturbing.
"It's particularly distressing and horrifying that the current casualties seem to be increasingly civilian casualties, with an increasing incidence of whole families being buried in houses which have been hit," Holmes said.
In all, four of UNRWA's Gaza staff have been killed since Israel launched a major attack on Hamas 13 days ago, according to the U.N. UNRWA said its deliveries of food have served as a "lifeline" for 750,000 Palestinian refugees in Gaza.
The World Health Organization said Gaza's health services were "on the point of collapse" — the hospitals overwhelmed, health care workers exhausted. It said the dead included 21 medical personnel, 30 more were injured and 11 ambulances have been struck by attacks.

Problem is Franny, Israel never listens. For instance, when Bush told Sherone (sorry, I can't spell the fuck's name) that building that wall some six years ago was a bad idea as it was spilling over the set borders into Palestinian land, Sherone responded with "Good fences make good neighbors."
Bush didn't support it and told Sherone that, but Sherone didn't listen and the US government did nothing. Israel is too important as a US foothold in the Middle East for the US to EVER cut them off.
But let's not go blaming Obama just yet, that's a bit premature. We can't get into the habit of blaming him for the Bush administration's messes just yet.
In a slight defense of Israel, they get suicide bombers and planned attacks much more often than we hear about. The thing is, they have a better military defense and covert force which hits these attackers before anything happens. Most of these don't get reported by the press, they generally only report about the attacks that succeed. These are in the minority of attacks which are planned.
It's just a shame with their excellent military resources, that they can't make more of an effort to hit the targets AROUND the civilians rather than just aiming for the general region of rocket launches.
more time for wastin'
As will any other nation. It's every legislatures's duty to the people who represent them. That's is how intergovernmental affairs works. When will the American apologists realize this??????
That's a good one SK. You must be more bored than usual.
Any idea who edits the IHT?
Peaceful resolutions to the Arab/Israeli conflict: What a refreshing notion. Honestly, are you that fucking stupid? The most brilliant of minds have been trying to right the wrongs of the origins of the conflict since it started. Do you really think Obama is that super-human? Go back to collecting maple leaves and let the big boys handle this.
Stats please.
Believe in one hand and shit in the other. Let me know which one gets filled first.
"Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man." --The Dude.
This is a thread about Al jazeera vs. CNN. Both are propaganda.
I was watching Obama give the economy speech yesterday. God bless America were his final words. It would be maybe nice and different if speech ended with something more relevant, but this is the same old, same old.
TV is the worst invention of the last century. Internet will be regulated too.... just like in China. Soon, very soon.
What do you think Obama has the power to do now as the President Elect? Press a magic button and make this all better? He could preach from a soap box 24hrs a day for a week and it wouldn't do shit to alleviate this problem. The UN has already condemned the fighting and called for a cease fire, neither side listened. They simply don't give a fuck, Hamas doesn't even care about it's own people for god's sake.....they would just as soon use them as meat shields.
Time to put some focus on Zimbabwe.
