Fair enough. We all have unique experiences, training, education, and beliefs that shape us, and we all attach a value to the same of others, in one way or another. I accept my position in your understanding and view of the world. In no way, do I expect you to accept mine, or any other ''GI who donned armor and did physical training in the morning'', when you haven't.
''Donning armor and doing PT'' only authorizes you to have an opinion --which may or may not be valid, of course. I accepted long ago that I'm just another piss-ant with a government retirement paycheck.
I'll wrap up with this; I saw a movie many years ago titled ''Shindler's List''-- was still a G.I. Joe in those days, I believe. I had certain thoughts and emotions watching that film.
Later in my life, I was a civilian, in an ''ethnic cleansing'' daily work environment as a diplomatic observer. I realized, all the dynamics of that black and white film, were the same thing I was ''observing'' realtime. Had a profound effect. Really brought it home in a way I never would have thought, had I only experienced that film.
Profound experiences probably do effect the passion and or manner in which thoughts and experiences are conveyed --which are easily discernible (to me) from the wall of noise spewed by those on the remote periphery. Doesn't mean they're right, just saying, you know?

Question: you're saying people who don't enlist in the military are afraid?
yeah that would go over well. "i think we should look more carefully at our policies about this mission..."
