I think it be most accurate to refer to me as; Honkey, Ajarn Honkey, Cheap Charley Honkey and by certain darker skinned Thai's, "Khun Honkey".

I was walking along and someone's shouting "Hey, you, you, you, you! Hey, you!! you !!! you!!!! Hey, you!!!!!!! you, you!!!!!!!" (a la Alan Partridge)
I ignored for a long time, but In the end, I turned round and there's a little lady running after me trying to give me my ATM back.
It feels rude to us, but it isn't really, either they've been taught to say it and they don't realise it's wrong or they just don't know what else to say. |

The only time I hear my Thai bf say "falang" is when he's complaining about something they're doing. Even when he's complaining to his friends about something I've done .. he refers to me as falang -- usually "falang baa!" But I think it's more a term of endearment.
