Well I just saw an ad on UBC announcing at last that they'll be showing the RWC (whew!).
And starting from I think the 25th of this month there'll be replays of games from the last World Cup (Star Sports I think).
Or would you like to swing on a star?
When's the first game BJ?
Not sure mate, I know the first game for the Wallabies is Japan on the 8th of September, so I'm assuming the first game of the tournament is one or two days before that...
Wicked, I'll be in my new abode with UBC by then. Cancelled it here. Where's your tip for watching the big matches over a beer oh Black one?
I hear the Looky Looky has a free BBQ while the game is on.Originally Posted by defender
I always prefer home when I can mate, but I'm more than happy to meet up somewhere. I'm not sure if Bus Stop will be showing it but that's quite a pleasant little beer garden to watch sport in, and there's a few places on soi 33...Originally Posted by defender
That Irish bar on Convent is alright too.
Where's that?Originally Posted by kiwiling
BTW from what I could gather the RWC will be broadcast on ESPN, with the replay of last years matches on Star Sports.
Good news from UBC............Yippee.
P.S Got this years State of Origin Rugby on disc if ya interested BJ?
Yes mate, missed the second game!Originally Posted by Magpie
BTW apologise for my slackness, PM on the way today...
Looky Looky is another Aussie pub round the corner from the office. Alright in there, but a bit small for my sport viewing needs. Watched a few recent games in the Office with all its new tellies which was OK.
Not a big fan of the Office myself. I do like the idea of getting out to watch the first game though (will it be France as the hosts or England as defending champs I wonder?).
Def weren't you heading back to Blighty or something?
Not till October or November mate.Originally Posted by blackjack
The Office has improved a bit lately. More TVs all over the place, more chance of getting the volume turned up on the commentary instead of some fcuker prancing with a violin
Seems a lot of the big games including the opener are Friday nights French time - that means 2 a.m. here

I went there are few weeks back. Was not impressed. The manager seemed a nice guy but I got groped by a bar girl in front of my wife, while I was watching the game. Bloody poor form. The big screens are an advantage especially when they turn the sound up.Originally Posted by defender
That's good to hear, their refusal to do this (and turn off the rancid Thai pop music, during a cricket World Cup Final for Christ's sake!) was the reason I gave it the brush in the first place.Originally Posted by defender
I know a cool and comfy pub that'll stay open especially for those games.Originally Posted by defender
Been there a million times dude. Never been groped unless I wanted to be and I never take the wifeOriginally Posted by kiwiling
The (new?) manager is a nice guy for sure!
Well I recently checked my UBC guide and it turns out the first televised replay of a game from the last WC is tomorrow evening.
It's France V USA, and the best thing is because we've forgotten the early rounds of the last Cup we can watch games like this without knowing who's going to win...
