Nobody carries the road crowd as well as the Steelers...they always have a ton of fans on the road. Seen them in Dallas a couple years back...more black & gold than you could shake a stick at.

exactly. there are steelers bars (not always a completely themed bar- but 'steeler bars' have memoribilia and are a lot of fun to go to.) ive been to a few. if youre a fan: http://www.post-gazette.com/steelers/steelerbars.asp

no other team has fans like the steelers. even the packers, bears, cowboys

and other bedrock teams from football's history. its a special thing with the black and gold. and old schoolers told me that when tv becaome very popular (and widely affordable) in the 60s and 70s- the steelers were dominant- and thus, a lot of folk grew up with them being the big dogs.

Maybe they have great fans, but I really dont think they have a huge following outside of Pittsburgh. Sorry guys just my humble opinion.

pride- taken to the borderline of obnoxiousness, and stradling that line like a bullrider.

just annoying enough to rub football fans the wrong way.

and lite enough to go under the radar of those who dont know.

i was in a steeler bar in colorado springs two years ago. filled with black and gold dressed folk. no other team has anything close to it.

how that started....see western pennsylvania is kinda shitty. not like san francisco. a lot of folk leave, and in fact, allegheny county (pgh) is one of the oldest counties (age of pepople) in the country. in short- theres not a lot for young people there- and most leave

its a family place and a nice place to be brought up in. the sentimental crap is a connection to family, friends, and local history. the steelers are in fact a byproduct of that desire to connect. ...so thats like 60% of steeler fans around the country id say. the rest are just fanwagoners.

i had a roomate in college who lived in SF and was a diiiie hard niners fan. they too have some devotees- much like their cross bay homiez- who have a bigger following id say than the niners. teams like the LA Rams though, had it rough. no wonder it didnt make a big splash when they left.

Frigging Franco Harris cost me a new 25 inch TV back in the day. Picking that ball off the turf and taking it in to beat the Raiders. Threw my Swedish hiking boot threw the middle of the screen. TV was 2 weeks old.

The Cowboys were self-appointed America's Team, but most Americans know that's a distant memory. Outside of the Dallas/Fort Worth area, they're just another NFL team.

Hey, El Twit, first of all, I never "promised" anything. I predicted. And the season is only 1/4 of the way through. Plenty of time for TO to melt.

Secondly, I don't comment on them for the same reason most Americans on this thread don't comment on them. The Dallas Cowboys are not that popular. That's why people ignore your posts about the Cowboy's popularity. You're the only one waving the Cowboy banner, pal.
