All the players your listed were major players on their teams. I am not sure about Paxon, but I know Kerr, Ellie, and Avery did more than their fair share of starting during their career. The simple fact is that the Spurs had at least 5 guys in line that had more of a right to take that shot. Not many coaches in the NBA will draw up a situation where you leave the fate of the game to Brent Barry. Pop is a much better coach than that. Plus they didn't even need a 3, put the ball in the hands of someone who can put it on the floor and make something happen.
CC, Cap, and remember Fisher in 04...not a superstar but coming through like one with less than a second left.
Regarding the Lakers win, the Spurs seem to be full while the Lakers are hungry, and Kobe is the hungriest. I really want to give Kobe credit for really changing from the time he was with Shaq until now. Let's remember, Jordon was 28 when he won his first ring. Kobe is just now 29. He's matured beyond belief. He changed his on and off court behavior to bring the team to this point. I think the team actually benefited from his calls for a trade. It woke them up and eventually got them Gasol.
He leads, where before he just shot the ball. I think that first championship season he did make defensive first team, but he was still hoping the offense went through him even though Shaq was top dog. Now he only wants to win and he's just as willing to let someone else score to get the job done. When the job isn't getting done, he takes over.
Both Detroit and Boston scare me. They are top teams and could take down any team. It's gonna be a great series, whoever it happens to be.

I think the Lakers are set up to have another dynasty type stretch. They are young and incredibly talented. Next year when they get Bynam back they are going to be ridiculous. I see no reason they couldn't make a run for the title for the next 5 years, but there are some young teams in the West that are on the verge of greatness as well. I think New Orleans is about 1 major piece away from being a top two team.
I have to say that I've never liked the Lakers, but I really do appreciate what it's taken for them to get to this point. They went from finger pointing whiny bitches to a selfless team in basically the course of a year. I think Fisher coming back was a huge boost for them on/off the court and in the locker room.
Why isn't there some action on vbookie on this? Want to cheer for my Lakers. Maybe get some vCash from Celtic or Piston Athletic Supporters ..er I mean fans..
Show me some vCash. Money where your mouth is. lol

Simmons on LA fans:
I will say this much: The Lakers have surprisingly good fans, better than I ever expected. They know when to cheer, they know how to affect games and they're definitely not Jumbotron Robots like four-fifths of the fan bases in the league. My theory here is simple: With almost every NBA team, the real fans have been priced out, replaced by pseudo-fans who have no idea what to do and how to act, and they don't really care, anyway. This never happened in Los Angeles because the tickets were always expensive and the fans were too rich to be priced out; hence, either the same people are coming to these games that caught Showtime in the '80s, or it's the children of those people. Regardless, it's a lively, knowledgable crowd that loves Kobe more than any other NBA city loves its signature player. I can say that with complete confidence. They love him. For years and years, they stood by him, defended him, made excuses for him and kept cheering him, and now he's nearly finished vindicating the entire rollercoaster ride of an experience for them.
Anyway..who cares...Celtics back in the NBA finals.![]()

If you were a conspiracy enthusiast you'd probably think that the league gave help along the way to make this dream matchup happen (where's Esoteric when you need him?).
But I'm happy the celtics made it anyhow...![]()
