Russia getting it isn't a disgrace. They've never had it so good luck to them. I also thought our whinge to FIFA about the Ruskie lobbying screamed of 'snitchiness'. Nobody likes a snitch.
Our effort at bribery was rubbish as well. Handbags? If your'e gonna give handbags stuff 'em full of cash. That's why they gave them back.
The major gripes I have is Blatter holding a meeting minutes before the vote in which he tells the voters 'remember the evil of the English media'. When he said after voting that 'We only want to give World Cups to nations without the infrastructure in place' I thought....'WHY THE FUCK GET THE USA, JAPAN, AUSTRALIA, KOREA, HOLLAND, BELGIUM, SPAIN AND PORTUGAL TO BID IN THE FIRST PLACE?'
Then it dawned on me. When you place a bid you need to whore yourself wining and dining them in plush hotels for 4 years.
The Qatar decision is a joke, too.
What the fuck have they ever done for the sport? I know that they are making air con stadiums to combat the 45-50 degree heat but you're not always in the fucking stadium. Add to this the difficulty in getting a beer, the fact that women have only been allowed to drive cars for two years and you can see what fun we'll have.
Take the wife or girlfriend and she'll need to cover up head to toe. Preferably in black. In 50 degree heat.
How she'll laugh on the way to the burns unit...
".Tony Banks described the English fans arrested in Marseilles as 'brain dead idiots'. That goes for me as well. ".
Secretary of the Football Supporters Association.
A lot of things to chuck cash at would be more accurate.
Throughout the bid the term 'innovatively cooled stadiums' has been used.
And sheeit we've been bombarded with the ads for it here for two years now.
But yeah, basically it will be air conditioned.
What a great way to make the world's biggest carbon footprint even bigger.
As Rob said, this decision stinks on just about every aspect imaginable.
Here's a view of the Qatar pick by an American columnist I like.
'22 World Cup promises to be hot, dry
How much corruption bribes, quid pro quos, and payoffs went into this decision?
And is doesn't matter what country go it.
Qatar seems a bit odd: indoor stadiums, and the cultural rules and expectations of a nation that is inviting the entire world to see the World Cup. Conditions will be loosened to to make the many visitors and guests to the World Cup enjoy their stay, as this is....after all.....about a nation's self promotion and ego, anyway, no matter country is the host.
The people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country." --Hermann Goering, Nuremburg

An Australian perspective of Prince William's role in the failure of their bid...read and think about it
WHERE'S WILL'S SUPPORT?
A reader makes a very good point about the voting for the World Cup. Going into it, the vice-president of the English Football Association, who is also the Pommy FIFA delegate, made clear England was going to vote for the USA. But hang on, the president of the FA is none other than Prince William, who some Australians are looking forward to grovelling to as the future King of Australia! Surely our future "King" - stop giggling hysterically, this is serious - could have put his weight behind us? This is TREASON! Or is this just one more example of the cultural and colonial absurdity that is Australia's monarchial system in the 21st century?
Oh my, Qatar gently weeps with joy
A movement to remove Blatter at the elections next year look to be slowly getting underway. Seems to be a bit optimistic though.
World Cup 2018: stung FA to start revolt against Sepp Blatter - Telegraph
Claimed by whom? Not surprising if true.It is claimed Blatter told delegates before the vote: “Remember what the English media did” – referring to exposés of alleged fraud.
