I do not see how it is possible to 'just hang on in the Alps', although Mark Cavendish might not agree - having done just that. If Cadel Evans had 'just hung on' he would have been way off the back at the Galibier finish on Thursday and at Alpe d'Huez on Friday.
Interesting p.o.v. I thought the Tour was an overall race with the yellow for the over all time, and the green, and red dot for other classifications. I don't see how having a time trial last affected anything. If they'd been swapped, and Evans had gone into the final stage in the mountains with an unassailable lead would the Schlecks have attacked in the mountains?I don't think the best cyclist won. Cadel IS a good rider, and yes, his efforts in the last few mountain stages were pretty good, but I think Schleck was the better rider, and the most exciting. I don't like the thing being decided by timetrial, not a fair way IMO. I know that the argument is that everyone knew how good Cadel is prior to the Alps, but really, the Alps is the purist form of cycling, the best, the most exciting. Just hanging on in the Alps does make it undeserving in my eyes.

Allez! Allez! Allez! It's that time of year again. Will Wiggo manage to justify his being named - at least in the English language press - as a favourite? How many stages will Cav win? Will Cadel Evans make it two in row? What can Frank Schleck do other than (no mean feat) sit on his brother's wheel?
As - following a 'training' injury - I shall be confined to Yobbo Grange for at least the next three weeks, I might be able to watch every kilometre of every stage this year. I use the word 'might' as I have, so far, been unable to find any link to a live stream.
Can any rouleur help in this respect?
Thank you very much in advance and in anticipation.
Try Justin TV they should have it on Eurosport or try to stream France 2 or France 3
another great win for the manXman today. still doubt whether wiggins can hack it over 3 weeks though
By 2005 every previous resident of Warsaw had listed their temporary address as Portswood, Southampton, leading to it's appointment as capital of Poland. It is currently the subject of a hostile takeover bid from the home counties, particularly

to see brits take 1st and 3rd spot on a mountain stage was nice. wiggins is looking good thus far
And Wiggins rolls into Paris victorious.
I thought that he might not have it in him, and certainly there are detractors who say his ride has been dull, but, by jesus, what a victory. This is Britain's tour. This is the fruition of the big Olympic cycling push going back 10/15 years. What a glorious day and well done, not only to Wiggins, but all the other British riders.
Roll on the Olympics and let's see the golds come our way.
Bradley Wiggins wins Tour de France as Mark Cavendish takes last stage | Sport | guardian.co.uk
Wiggins wins! It's a great achievement, and he rode fantastically but the domination of sky also made the race a little dull. I enjoyed watching last year much more.
Hopefully next year Andy Schleck will be fit, Evans will be back to his best and Contador will be clean and raring to go. Also, Chris Froome is a wild card, will he be happy helping Wiggins again (probably not), Would Sky be willing to make him team leader over Wiggins? (probably not). I would imagine next year will also have more mountains and less time trials too and that won't help Wiggins.
amazing day, fantastic victory. as for dull - wiggo can only beat whats in front of him - no rival had the guts to take a chance and really attack him. that said, next year, tour 100 starting in corsica, is rumoured to be much more mountainous including my personal fave, mount ventoux. cant wait
