my point is that they are either...

multiple nik posters who have probably already brought up this point under a different nik

    OR

they need to spend more time here to see how quickly some threads can quickly spiral down

Dunno. I would have said the *real* issue is one of anonymity (or posting behind pseudonyms). If people are prepared to put *their* name behind it (verifiably) there might be a case to name and shame schools. While people are posting under false and essentially un-tracable board names, why should they have a "forum" to make potentially untrue or personally motivated claims against a school (especially as it may make the "forum" liable for the comments posted)?

this view seems reasonable...out yourself if you're going to out the school...seems a double standard...in the end, out a school does little...

i can't understand why someone would take this whole thing that seriously...weren't not real teachers working at real schools...

aren't we just actors infactuated with a certain exotic lifestyles???

No change in policy. We link to TEFL Watch which does an admirable job as TSW did before it.

The management at Ajarn Forum is of course saddened when we hear about mistreatment at schools, and it's fair to say I've been on the end of some dubious behaviour myself.

I would prefer as much as possible to keep discussion on Ajarn non-specific when it comes to criticisms of the Thai education system. Reading The Staffroom, there's no way in the world anyone can accuse us of glossing over the short-comings in our respective work places, but we'd rather not expose ourselves unduly to Thailand's draconian and criminal libel laws, especially when 90% of namings come from anonymous posters with a single post to their name.

Don't get me wrong - I don't want a 'serious' board but I'd like posts to be either genuinely amusing, informative and/ or thought provoking.

i agree that many are sick of being treated like shit. but to me, it seems a useless exersize to complain about a specific school. thais don't really relate to criticism anyway. i can imagine a thai response to a vociferous, detailed complaint with something like: "yeah, farang crazy."

    MCOT, Umbuku???
    Ministry of Communications of Thailand.
The guys that can block web sites from being viewed within Thailand. If TeflWatch.org pisses off the wrong people they may find themselves banned in Thailand.
TeflWatch contacts the owners/directors of badly maligned schools and invites them to enter the debate and defend themselves. So far none have to my knowledge, though there have been a few suspect users apologizing for school actions.
We could all sit outside on banana lounges discussing the best way to rebuild a 4WD transmission and agree, through shared stories of conquests supporting our assertions, that there is no basis to the proposition that those least assured of their persuasions are the first to condemn others for theirs.
