I have recently arrived in Thailand and after some r and r I have started to look for a teaching position which I am qualified for having a teaching degree.
Well I sent a number of emails and made calls.
One organization worries me ENGLISH ABROAD I sent them all the details they asked for ,copies of my degree c.v. passport and visa etc by email, yet The agency cannot or will not give me an office address.
According to the rules anyone posting a job on Ajarn .com is supposed to supply an address English Abroad do not. All I get is some plummy English accent that reminds me of the villians from American movies that posed as English gentlemen in order to scam people.
Any comments please.
Incidentally I have got a post in an International school at 80,000Baht a month starting in August so I can shoot the breeze till then.
Staffroom man. Staffroom.
The worst job in Thailand must be the man who has to sit down with a blue marker pen and mark a number two on the two-baht coins to stop people thinking they are one-baht coins.
What's your beef then? Way to go.Originally Posted by nortyrascalwith honours
...well we've had a few mentions of English Abroad being funny seeming anyway, but 'no naming and shaming schools', right? Though without an address, it can't be a school can it.

I work for English Abroad, only for the last four weeks, so I don't have much info on them. Re: the address-- I was given the address the first time I spoke to them, but promptly forgot it. I get no bad vibes from the guy I deal with, although he does come across as a bit nervous. There are rumours floating around TEFLwatch that it's one of the guys that used to run a outfit with the words "school" and "British" in the name around the Silom area, and the office address is actually a fire escape! Again I cannot confirm this. A mate of a mate worked for them last school year and has nothing bad to say about them .
It's not a school, it's an agency.Though without an address, it can't be a school can it.
As I've said, they seem okay so far. I'll let you know on the 31st (payday) if there are any problems.
Your either speaking to a different guy than I am or can't differentiate between Brit accents. All I get is some plummy English accent
Bangkok seems to run on rumour and bullshit, so I'll let you know if they rip me off.
i dont know why you'd even bother with this stuff if u got a job at an int. school - call it a holiday - you'll need it - cos they make u work!Originally Posted by nortyrascalwith honours
is this gonna be your first international school ?
80,000K seems a little low - does that include your housing allowance ?
