DC if they want to know they will spring for FedEx or something. Damn who waits anymore on mail. My bank statements still come by mail.

    Thats what I think anyway.

I thought about that too, but they are such penny pinchers

That would be a lot of fed-exing.

It can't happen. Nobody in the two Thai schools I worked at, roughly 330 "ajarns," knew how to make an international phone call. They don't know how to address mail to a foreign country. They don't know the name of the educational agency in all the various countries, states, provinces, etc. If you ask them to find a URL (and after you explain 3 times what you mean), they might at best go to Google.co.th and input in English "check farang ajarn apply job here today." They have no concept of time zones.

And they might hesitate to check out even a LOCAL Thai reference for fear that they need signed permission from both school directors to even ask the question.

Of course they can't do it.

Most of the Ajarns at my uni are quite smart. But they really have no idea how to use the internet other than email or game sites. Sadly they do not even know how to really use a search engine. The result. Not to worry.

That's because they live in the 'present continuous':

What are you doing now? I sleeping.

I think that's one of the things they are being told to do.

One of them wanted to print up some of the kings songs in English for her students. Whe googled Kings Songs, and began to print out the hits of Nat King Cole. Truth.

Re: Foreign Ministry to screen foreign teachers

We know its not gonna happen - though in reality it really SHOULD happen. With technology it COULD happen. But here in Thailand it ISNT gonna happen. So thats that sorted out.
The thing that really really effing ticks me off is that its foreign males who appear to be having to get checked out. At my school, 10 percent of teachers are foreign. And half of them are women.
I think ALL teachers, irrespective of age, sex or ethnic origin should be checked out.
As far as i am aware, paedophilia is an incurable disease and it doesnt discriminate between people of different ethnic origins.

If you have those kinda urges, then it dont matter if you are Thai or American........

I just feel a bit affronted that people should be looking at people of my skin colour and thinking......"i wonder if he is one..................."
I m sure there are plenty of Thai paedos.
And there are certainly more thai teachers than farang teachers here.
    Humpf.
Anyway the problem will go away soon. This is Thailand afterall.
"Good morning teacha, how are YOU toDay!"

Today i am suffering from tremendous bowel pain and have a ringing in my ears.

"Thank you teacha, we are fine TOO"
