Waiting here for you to post, Slurpy.
haven't seen you on here much lately.
Miles and miles to go before I sleep...
Got my tenses mixed up. Thought you are recruiting. As for filipino's not at your school, if there's any undegreed white teachers at your govt school, you will be meeting some filipino's within the next few months. (Unless you have to leave the country).Originally Posted by Unwell

You have an amazingly naive perception of Filipinos. What makes you think they are all as pure as driven snow?
Couldn't quote a statistic, but I am sure there are plenty of non-degreed and KSRers among their ranks. I've encountered a couple directly.
(Not exactly iron-clad evidence, but a source I trust at one of the Ramhamkaeng sessions for the Nonthanburi project advises that majority of Filipionos there were without degrees.)
Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation.
was recruiting. all our teachers are stable, appreciated and happy right now. oh, and i am leaving the country...

Hm, maybe your post isn't interesting DC?
Actually, I know one who claimed to be a PhD even though he was never awarded that qualification.
According to other teachers at the school (not farangs) he told them he had completed the preliminary subjects but didn't know he had to do a thesis as well. He claimed it was the University's fault for not telling him and accordingly called himself a PhD based on the two subjects he had completed! (Hearsay, of course, but popular hearsay...)
He subsequently softened this claim to including "PhD candidate" as a qualification on his CV, even though he had long since stopped studying. (No heresay...fact.)
Amazing.
Tragedy was, some Thai teachers thought his claim quite reasonable. The University really should have it clear what they expected for a PhD!

There certainly are frauds, wankers, losers, and cheats amongst their ranks as well...
(Actually this guy was the centre of another episode. I was helping a student rewrite a two page speech they were going to deliver next day. The grammar was appalling and I really expected a little better from this student. As I got toward the end of the document, I found a particularly simple error. I playfully hit the student over the ears with their paper, saying "You can do better than this!". She replied "Yes, I think I could. But Ajarn X wrote it".)
But I'm being unfair. No doubt there are an equal percentage of farang horror stories as well....
..aren't there?![]()

but they are not there to be great or boring they are just my thoughts at the moment.
I have heard from a friend who works in a travel agency that there are actually a lot of Filipinos going home next year due to the new visa regulations and ministry requirements. And secondly, due to the low pay that they get from their schools. (something like 10k to 15k). I don't really know the extent of how many are leaving.
that's about the same as they get at home with a m.ed.Originally Posted by Slurpyjoe

I can assure you I couldn't more comfortable as I am. Those here that know me personally can readily attest to that.
You have been pushing this agenda of yours based on no evidence, bullshit statistics, and ridiculous generalisations.
If there is anyone with a chip, it's not hard to work out who...
That's true. You know, some of them just came here thinking that it's all a piece of cake. They were banking on the idea that they would probably get higher wages here in Thailand than in the Philippines. But I think there are just a few fortunate ones who were able to get decent wages plus excellent working conditions. But aside from the usual pursuit in the academe, there are a lot of Filipinos working in publishing houses / newspapers / advertising agencies getting 70 to 90k a month.Originally Posted by Unwell
Some get quite a bit more - try 20-30K, depending on the school. It may explain why so many are over here as the salaries are better.Originally Posted by Unwell
