Thread: Ask the Sec Gen of TCT one question-what would it be?

If you had an opportunity to ask Dr. Chakrapat, Secretary General of the TCT one question...what would it be?


My first questions would be are: What is the relationship between the Ministry of Education and the Teachers Council of Thailand regarding teachers licenses?

Number 2: How are the associated parties (the MoE and TCT) currently issuing teachers licenses?

3. What is the planned progression of implementation of the new requirements for teachers licenses?

4. How is the TCT going to verify and certify degrees and other teaching certifications that are obtained outside Thailand?

5. Is the TCT going to require a police check prior to a teacher applying for certification?

6. Should schools be expected to pay more for a teacher with a TL from the TCT? Why, Why not?

7. How is a private agency (according to the organisational chart on the Moe website) going to provide a level playing field for all teachers.

8. Many of the teachers here in Thailand have been here for several years and cannot understand why they should take a test in Thai culture. At what point does the TCT agree that years of experience should exclude them from the culture test?


These are just some starter questions....pony on up to the bar!

I would ask the following: "Who the fuck died and made you (TCT) god of education, when it's obvious you don't know enough to have a successful wet dream?" OK, seriously, I would ask why I am qualified to teach in a nation with over 300 million people, but a third world shithole thinks I am not? I want to know why!

Did you actually do your doctorate yourself or did you pay someone to do it for you?

Fair question....even more that you're one of the more respected teachers here Wang.

How about... Many teachers have degrees and certifications that let them teach in any country in the world. Countries such as Japan, Korea and even Laos (joke) Taiwan actively seek these teachers. Why should they be required to take the same tests that a new teacher with a new degree and no "in country" experience?

And for my last rant of the evening...all I did is take Russell Simpons idea to get an interview...I looked up the moe site on google and found a phone number. used that phone number and got yet another phone number..the last one being to the top dog.

Why haven't anyone actually going thru this BS done this same thing? To scared...to stupid...or just too lazy. It took me an hour to get an interview with the guy in charge...why haven't any of you posers made the same effort.

My personal guess is that its easy to bitch on a forum rather than actually make an effort yourself. Its easier to express your opinions rather that getting to the bottom of the issue. How many of you have called the TCT asking for clarification of the requirements? How many of you have asked the management at TCT their opinions of what the new requirements will cost to implement?

I'm pretty much disappointed in this "teachers community". I would have hoped for better.

One question. Here goes.

What mechanisms are in place to provide for input from the most affected parties and related, what elements of transparency are built into implementation of the new regulations?

Let them chew on that for awhile.

Thanks for the input...I'm going to ask about transparency from the stand point that every school (i.e. the international schools) should be expected to use this certification as proof the teacher is qualified for teaching in Thailand. I think a question along those lines is important to establish the relancy of the TCT license.

My serious question would be thus:

If you want serious, qualified teachers from the West, why are you unwilling to pay those teachers a serious salary?

You're right, I haven't done anything to get to the bottom of this 'issue', largely because I don't need to. My quals are all legit, notarised and apostilled, I have a recent background check and I don't need to do the Thai Culture course and I have a Non-imm B visa, plus WP plus Teacher's license and I've never had a problem getting any of these things.

If I did have a problem with any of these things and I had been lucky enough to score an interview with Dr. whateverhisnameis, I certainly wouldn't drop my mild-mannered online persona, start beating my chest, telling everybody what a fucking dynamic man of action I was, and calling everyone else a
