It's not. Bandidi is right. You're reading too much into it.

The word "respectfully" was inserted for a sincere reason: I appreciated your response and yet I was disagreeing with you.

To recap, we were talking about the rights that teachers have. Legality is important, no?! I'm not "full of myself" (and yet, strangely, how could one not be?!!). What's the point in continuing the thread if you're going to insert random insults for the sake of people mentioning the Thai legal system?

All people are doing is chatting here. Do you honestly think that people spend their time typing away on the internet to affirm their "status" amongst people they'll probably never meet?! I asked for constructive criticism because when people pay me I want to do a good job.

I'm sorry that my respect means so little to you (not that I don't understand why it wouldn't). But I was being sincere. Make of that what you will.

I see no point in continuing this conversation.

I don't mean for any of this to sound rhetorical. This is merely my present standpoint.

Well......yes, I suppose.

You are new to teaching? I don,t know. Just guessing.

You COULD, if you wanted to be sneaky, ask your students what rules they would like to see imposed. And what should the punishments be for breaking or flouting those rules ?

You may be surprised at how mature the answers are. Some learning psychologists believe that the students respond better to rules that they have had a part in deciding.

Just a thought.

Chan: I just want to say that your posts have all been excellent. Nevermind one or two idiots posting some BS. If I were teaching in Thailand I would be very happy to work with someone like you. Again, excellent posts! Take this experience and learn from it (which I am sure you will).

Good luck!

I agree with the above statement, some good posting from the gibbon.

There are quite a few posters on here that will nitpick minor points, some unintentionally as they can't help themselves. Ignore those questions and stick to your main points and you'll be fine.

Excellent!! This has just been copied and pasted into my lesson plans for monday! Thanks for the tip.

In response to all: Yes, I am rather new to teaching 13-15 year olds. All my previous teaching experience has been with paying customers and usually on a one-to-one basis. Private TSEP schools in Thailand are a completely different game entirely! Many of the posts on this thread will be put to active use over the coming days. Thanks very much for all of the support.

You,re welcome.

What stands out for me is that you acknowledged you had a problem and sought advice on the best way of dealing with it. Not a bad start at all to your career in Thailand.

Good luck.
